They obviously mean that people who have been scared by Japan's earthquakes are using the dramatic video to make other people scared too.

Quite right. The person who started this thread is a bit silly.

What did I do to you?
I just thought it was interesting because it reminded me of microwaving popcorn (I guess that no one else thought so... I probably should've made some sort of reference to it in the original post).
The only difference is that the popcorn hasn't slowed down the popping yet, which means it's not yet ready (yea... I definitely should've made a reference; I missed a golden opportunity).
FYI: Microwave Popcorn Instructions:
*Stand near the microwave and listen as the popcorn pops. Stop the microwave when popping slows to two to three seconds between pops.*

... Well, your initial post seemed to suggest that your vid was suppose to scare people about going to Japan. It never once occurred to me that earthquakes were 'cool'

It was interesting to see the trend leading up to the big quake. A bit chilling too.
Science is cool because knowledge is power.

And my point was that earthquakes kill people. I wasn't talking about the science behind it.

I think you misunderstood Scout's intentions, man![]()
No-one said that violent earthquakes are great fun or anything. Just that, from an objective point of view, the visualisation was very interesting to see.
