My email turned up in my normal inbox, however I had been in contact with the Jet Desk from that address previously so it is probably wise to keep an eye on both regularly

Just back from an Edinburgh Interview. Grammar wasn't that bad, though my definitions could certainly have been better. Got the feeling I did alright. [certainly seemed to be a lot of nodding from the interviewer's side] Standard questions on previous teaching experience, difficult situations during that, urban vs rural, other exchange programs I've applied for, got a massive one on Japanese society which I answered by saying that I couldn't make wide judgements on Japan as a whole without as least visiting [this is the answer I'm probably most nervous about] No Japanese questions or teaching demonstration which I'm a bit worried about too. Rather glad to have the whole thing over with. Rather hopeful.

Glad interviews are continuing to go well for people! Not too many curveballs being thrown!

I am now in retrospect wondering if I'm just remembering all the bad points of my interview and not the good points? I had a lot of nodding in my interview as well, but I still don't think it went as well as it could have done. Who knows, I suppose! I am my own harshest critic, but still, maybe I just did a really bad interview!

Good luck to everyone else interviewing this week!

Had mine today too, overall I really have no idea how it went. I think I could've answered things better, and I didn't remember to say certain things that I wanted to say. I found the bit about explaining the meaning of certain words quite hard, because I knew what they meant, kind of, but found it difficult to explain them without having thought about them for longer. I tried to be smiley and positive, but nerves really do get the better of you when you're in there. I think the interviewers seemed quite tired and bored really. Maybe they weren't, but that's what I thought. Although I don't blame them, I probably would be bored if I had to interview people all day every day for a week or two. Anyways, I'm not gonna think about my interview now until the results come out, otherwise I'll sit and obsess over what I could've and should've done/said. Good luck y'all still yet to go :)

Hey just found this forum today and began panicking. I've been worrying that I haven't heard for interview already (though I know they are still sending letters out) I only managed to get my application in just before the deadline (my tutor spent ages getting the reference) but I got the postcard back. Just worried is all.

Glad everyones interviews has gone well so far.

what did you mark your japanese level as? i'm in the same boat, but someone else mentioned that they never got tested on japanese and got through, which makes me feel slightly better, but they are from america so maybe there's different rules... :?

i honestly don't know how i did now... i keep thinking of all the rubbish, cringey things i said, but i figure they couldn't have lasted 20 minutes so i must've said some good stuff too and just blocked it out lol! i need to find a distraction.

Well I was only a 1 for Japanese so maybe they decided they wouldn't put someone introductory level in that situation. I sure waffled a lot though. Same boat as you regarding reflecting on it... ah well my Uni dissertation will have a good deal of work put into it as a distraction.

Don't worry sure we're all just thinking too much into this :D better to be hopeful than spend months worrying about something that can't be changed.

Got my CIR interview notification on Monday.
Question for other CIR interviewees - do your letters say that your interview will last 40-45 minutes?
I was under the impression it was only 20...

They started sending out the CIR interviews this week, which means they're probably done with the ALT ones, unfortunately. I think the only people getting ALT interviews at this point will be those on the reserve list for people who cancel their interviews. I imagine that's why Beazel got assigned an interview at such late notice too.

Realistically speaking, if we haven't recieved an interview by now, then we've almost certainly been rejected Image

Who said anything about wanting to be realistic? ;) I reckon we have until tomorrow to get a letter, and next Thursday for a rather last minute email. A week today is when I will sit in the corner of my room listening to "Time after time" and eating chocolate.

I'll see you there *high five*

What time is yours? I'm in at 3pm. Seems a bit unfair that I was told 2 weeks ago and you've only just been told, and we're both going on the same day. :?

Hey sorry I didn't see this. I had my interview at 11:15.

I have no Idea how it went. I made some blunders when answering the questions on the UK.
The guy kept pushing me, asking why ... but how does that relate to Japan... how does that relate to you etc...
I was asked my name in Japanese, my age and the time I woke up this morning. (quite patronising since I put down intermediate on my form lol)

In all I don't feel that the interview went that good.

But of course! Being realistic never got anyone anywhere after all

I really hope you're right about next week. Positive vibes to everyone still waiting, as well as y'all that have interviews!

I went through this last year you guys. It's over now. Time to revise your SOP, set up an international aid organisation, become fluent in Japanese, have the Queen write your reference, and and take genki pills for the next ten months. Why the JET desk can't send out rejection letters to those who aren't even on the interview reserve list as they go through the applications is beyond me.
