I do combat sports and power lifting which, fortunately, I don't need to go outside to do during this time of the year ;) Applied for the Kansai region, Tokyo and Okinawa which I would absolutely dig if they gave it to me. I dream of the scorching heat and sandy beaches, but since it's my third choice I don't expect to get it.

Ahaha! I completely agree...I was like "not Hokkaido not Hokkaido" :P. Although, in Toronto winter has been very kind this year - just not tonight.
Btw congrats to you both! Your English sounds like it would be wonderful! (Anyways, French accents are awesome!) Even without being French-Canadian I'm sure we all worry about them zoning into our speaking and annunciation. I'm an immigrant - and although I spent most of my life in Toronto - people randomly mention I have an accent - which I am unnaware of so let's hope it doesn't poke out during my interview haha.

I chose Kanagawa Prefecture, Fukushima Prefecture, and Osaka Prefecture, in that order but I feel equally about all 3 - they are all my first choice.

I always get sad when people do the "not Hokkaido not Hokkaido" especially if they've never been here. Sure there is winter but IT IS AMAZING. It's beautiful, so much to do, the people are kind, and you can visit all the other places but very few think to come up here.

If it's any consolation, my first pick was Hokkaido. I've heard so many wonderful things about it, and am an avid skiier as well!

Well Kiffster, if you get in there's a good chance you'll be headed this way this summer. Most people who request Hokkaido get Hokkaido but it's still not a given these days.
The skiing community is really strong and the mountains around here are GORGEOUS. I've been to Niseko a bunch. I've gone rafting twice, I'm actually going again this spring during the high water time. Did you know Hokkaido has its own Mt. Fuji, perfectly symetrical and beautiful, called Mt. Yotei?

Actually, near Mt. Yotei (kind of near - I think it's closer to another mountain) is Hokkaido Speedway, which I'd love to visit! The snow aside (well even including the snow) I'm sure all of Hokkaido is quite beautiful. I'm assuming it's your second or third year there?

I wonder if people ever choose Okinawa..

what are you talking about here? there was nothing in my interview notification email asking me to reply :/

Same, which has me a little anxious and worried. Any other Vancouver applicants not get this? Perhaps it is different for us?

I wouldn't worry about it too much, every province is different. Each consulate will contact their interviewees and assign them an interview date and time I assume. And you probably have to reply to that e-mail then and confirm you are going. Some people were contacted by phone, other by e-mail - depends on your province.

Ottawa-PC - is there a list of e-mails for each consulate so JET hopefuls can e-mail their own consulate in the event they have a question or a concern (as I did yesterday - instead of e-mailing and asking you about it) ?

FYI Toronto peeps - the Toronto Consulate said that they will be sending further instructions and details about the interviews shortly - so I assume it'll be this week :)

The contact information was sent in the sent in the initial email that stated when the interviews are. Additionally all the Embassy and Consulate's phone numbers are posted on http://www.jetprogramme.ca, and everyone should be contacted again soon by the JET Coordinator in their area.

It could be. I'm from Vancouver as well and my interview notification email did not contain a request for reply. The email did contain information stating that they will send out the specific interview time and date at the beginning of Feb. Maybe the reply request will be attached to that email.

Hmm, I think my email instructions were a little different as well. I believe I was told to reply to the email to confirm my attendance, but that the Interview Voucher was something I had to bring with me to the actual interview itself for registration...
It's interesting to see how all the consulates seem to be conducting these pre-interview necessities a little differently. Just enough to get everybody a little nervous.

A buddy of mine who I applied with last year chose Okinawa. He got to the interview stage but ran into school troubles so he couldn't go through with it. He might be re-applying this year though.

That's pretty awesome! I'm sure every part of Japan has something to offer. I hope we all get to go...haha. Wish it worked that way.

I'm having a hard time finding a suit - but I'm probably being too picky - I've never owned one, and I find most of them rather boring. I guess that's the point lol...sighhhh
