Aspiring Canadian JETs 2012

Postby dannybaccala » Fri Jan 13, 2012 4:05 am

Fellow Canadians, I figured we could use a place to discuss the 2012 Canadian application process. (I tried searching but couldn't find one for 2012. Please ignore this thread if I am wrong.) Please feel free to introduce yourselves, and share any developments about the application you come across.

Let me start out by introducing myself. The name's "dannybaccala", and Im applying through the Montreal consulate. I'm in my final year of University and, at the moment, I'm just really nervous about recieving the interview notification letter!

Finally, for those of you applying through Calgary and Winnipeg, the interview dates have been set:

Calgary
February 21 - 23, 2012 at the Consulate General of Japan in Calgary, 2300 TransCanada Tower, 450 1st Street SW, Calgary AB

Winnipeg
February 14 - 15, 2012 at the Manitoba Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre, 180 McPhillips Street, Winnipeg, MB

Good luck guys and gals!

Thanks!

Really?! So excited!

I'm assuming that is for all Canadian consulates? Does anyone happen to know when the Vancouver interviews will be held?

About me: Name's Jaime. I have a Bachelor's Degree in English (literature), and previously studied in Japan (岐阜市) as an exchange student from 2003-2004. I live in Victoria, BC, and applied through the Vancouver Consulate. =)

This is GOOD NEWS. Plane ticket prices seem to be rising.
I'm Mike, by the way. I applied through Toronto; I live in Fukui-shi, Japan with my wife (she's a current JET) and our daughter.

Hi Everyone!

I am an Aspiring JET and hoping to find out soon if I got an interview or not-need to book time off work.

Jaime, I also live in Victoria, and applied through the Vancouver Consulate. So excited to find someone else apply from our tiny island paradise ;)

About me: my name is Sasha, I have a BFA in Theatre from the University of Victoria. I live in Victoria, but I was born in Russia, and am fluent in both English and Russian.

Hi fellow applicants through Vancouver Consulate!
I'm live in Vancouver but I lived in Victoria for a year previously ;)

My name is Zoey and I have a Bachelors in Math from UBC. I was born in southern China so I'm fluent in Mandarin and Cantonese. I studied Japanese and Spanish in high school as well. I've visited Japan for a week previously and had an amazing time :)! That being said, I've also reveled to 13 other countries and they were all great.

Hey everyone! I applied through the Toronto Consulate and I'm in my last semester of university, wrapping up getting an HBA from U of T, for history and English. Can't wait to hear about the results. Good luck everyone! :D

Hey all,

I am from Corner Brook, Newfoundland and this is my first time applying. I recently graduated with a BEd and previously completed a BFA in Theatre and a BA in English so I guess it's safe to say I am one of the older applicants here. I hope to at least make the interview stage. I wish that I could know now so I could get the time off work now just in case. I'm sure we are all in that boat! :)

Has anyone here put down Halifax as their preferred interview location? I did and I know that I would be placed in Montreal if there would be no dates in Halifax. I just know it would be less of a financial and time cost if I went to Halifax. I guess I will cross that bridge when I come to it...

Anyway,

Good luck to all!

Hi,

My name is Camille and I’m from Delta (suburb of Vancouver). I am currently finishing the last semester of my Fashion Design and Technology degree. I participated in an exchange to Taiwan last spring for 5 months and am very excited at the prospect of going back to Asia. I also took French immersion through high school and elementary school and am still pretty fluent with French.

Good luck everyone!
