I think it would be more useful if the furigana is taken off in the Advanced course books.

Dear gosh no. I think this would be a horrible idea to remove furigana all together. What would be useful, though, is that if you`ve already seen the kanji before in the sentence, not to have the furigana if the word appears in the next sentence, or even again in the same sentence.

Many of us come from different `levels,` but still are considered `advanced.` Since many of us have used different texts to study, we may not have the same range of kanji down as someone who studied Genki, or someone that studied Yookoso, but we still can read and write the required amount of kanji to be considered `advanced.` At least for me, furigana was incredibly useful for some kanji I hadn`t studied before, but still knew what the word was when written out in hiragana.

I`ve never seen the books used towards the end of the course, but I imagine that maybe those have some furigana removed? Especially for new kanji, I don`t think the idea of removing all furigana would be incredibly productive.

Can we see our scores earlier if we did the monthly test online?
If yes, how can we do that? If no, when/how can we know our scores?

I think they're in your study guide that you got with the first book.
January 20th is the due date for Book 2. ^^

not sure if this has been said or not, but would it be possible to make sure that they add the vocabulary learnt in previous books to the current book? So that in the 3rd book, you have the vocab for books 1 and 2 in the list. Otherwise, i'm not sure why you need to have the "B3" location when it's obviously in that book seeing as no other vocab is in the list. The current New Horizon books for JHS have done this kinda well (doesn't have the location though) and is very useful!

Also, a nice to have would be just a simple direct translation of the Japanese to English in the vocab list. Save people flipping through a bunch of pages/books looking for the book's translation. This perhaps isn't so necessary, but having a full vocab list would be SO handy!

I believe the system is you get your certificate if you pass five out of six tests submitted on time, or six out of six with one late. So ace all the tests, don't be late again, you should still get your piece of paper.

Online Submissions

Postby traigo12 » Wed Feb 15, 2012 10:53 am

Has anyone else had trouble with online submissions? The test is due today and I've tried submitting the written text portion five times on different browsers now, and it says the submission is received but when I go back to the top page it still shows up as incomplete. I can't find anywhere to contact manabinet and the help page is blocked on the school's computers. What should I do?

I didn't hand in my 6th test after passing the first five, so I didn't get my cirtificate. I figured I didn't have to because I passed 5 out of 6, technically, but for some reason I would have had to hand in my 6th one even if it had been blank. Silly technicality!!!

Me too! On the written portion of the advanced books, when I submit the text it says that it is submitted by when I return to the main page I keep seeing that yellow triangle which indicates it is not submitted correctly. What gives? Anyone know what's up, or how to successfully submit the written portion of these tests?

...which meant you had five correct with one late (or, in fact, missing), meaning you didn't pass 5 of 6 all on time, or 6 of 6 with one late. That's not a technicality, that's the rules as stated.

I emailed the support desk saying it wasn't working and also stuck my text in the email. By the way what style did you guys write yours in? There wasn't really enough info in the question, like why someone who could clearly understand Japanese wouldn't know what to do if they ever came here  I also wrote it in an 'email to a buddy' form, complete with "おっす!" opening.

I had a reply from the support desk, so it looks like things are ok.

thanks for your mail.
actually, the reason why it stays yellow trangle is because the essay has not been scored so that we cannot shows ◎or ×.
your test is under proceed and we will be revised after scoring, please kindly note.

please kindly inform me if there is still any. : )

Hey darlo,
Thanks for finding that out for us and putting my mind at ease. I was hoping it was something like that.
