Japan related Studies

So I am filling out the app (YAY! its finally here) and I have gotten to the Japan related studies page and realize I don't have any formal or informal studies to put down just maybe some online research and a Japanese language program. is this going to seriously hurt my chances? Oh also I am not sure if I want to put down a prefecture or just leave it at the block level because there are too many prefectures I want to go to but they are all in the about 3 blocks

Oh I am planning on taking a Japanese language class this next semester but I am not sure I will be able so I don't want to necessarily put it down before I am sure I can afford it. Advice?

You can only list classes that you've taken or are currently taking. Applicants without any Japanese ability are accepted every year, so don't worry about things you can't change

I believe leaving your preference at the block level is acceptable.

It won't seriously hurt your chances that you didn't study Japanese in school, but I would suggest you mention your informal online research.

You certainly can request just block areas, that is why they are lettered.
