Hey guys,

I`ve heard of some people being contacted by employees of the school they are going to work for before receiving official notification. Has this happened to anyone here?

Hey all,

Good to see a kiwi thread up and running! ALT shortlister from Auckland here, restlessly waiting for placement notifications. I have no teaching experience, although have worked in holiday programmes and as a teacher aide, and know no Japanese! So should be interesting!

I also got the who is the head of state question, as well as who is on the $5 note, and a couple of other random NZ questions. Interview was horrible, I was certain that I wouldn't be accepted!

Good luck to those that are alternates and waiting to hear.

It's nice to read some information from NZers and what they are up to! Thanks for the reminder about the Q&A...I'd completly forgotten and was looking at going away that weekend, might have to reconsider, especially if it's a 9-5 deal :( oh well.

Peace, love and smiles

Wow, I didn't get any random questions like that, they were all what I expected "Why Jet? What do you see your position being as an ALT? What will you do when you finish with Jet?......." But I was sooo nervous, I completely bombed my interview  So that's sort of my reasoning for being an alternate.

I'm highly doubting we'll hear until next week. The third is the Friday, so it'll be sometime by then.

I gave in my letter of resignation from work today. I know I was going to wait until placement, but my principal is off on a fortnight trip around China for marketing, so it was either now or leave it far too late (especially as I am already within the two months notice I have to give, being a teacher).

All a little bit more real now.

I figure if there's no placement, I can always become a lady of leisure

Haha the wait is a killer isn't it? Everytime I jump on here I get excited, but then I read everywhere about no info til possibly the 3rd... The waiting and wondering has completely destroyed my motivation for uni work, so I'm very glad not to have to rely on this term to graduate. Got a feeling I'm going to bomb my exams :( Don't know if it's bad courses or due to EQ-biz, but this semester has been semester of DOOM. So stressed, I actually had a cry the other day when I realised my essay due a week ago hadn't properly submitted through the uni site... I was so organised, finished it a week before the deadline as well!

Hang in there rosec20, I bet once placements are announced you'll get upgraded :D

Lady of leisure ay Cytrix? Will you have to work through until the school holidays?

Hey NZAnge, glad to find another teaching-experience-less kiwi here. They asked me about experience in my interview and I said 'well, I have a younger brother...'

Just think, this will (hopefully) be the week!

Yup. Will be teaching and marking assessments and planning school work up until the 15th of July, and then I get to drive from Auckland to Invercargill to spend time with the folks.

Let's just say I've already started to pack things away slowly so I'm not stressed out at the end...
