Sometimes, I choose my dramas according to (this is gonna sound really shallow, lol) how cute the cast is, HAHA. mysoju.com is my drama guru! I've already seen all the five star ones, and the four star ones, so I just randomly go clicking through to see the casts and choose based on that. I'm a HUGE Yamapi fan, and I <3 Ryo Nishikido too.
I grew up on Studio Ghibli's works, so My neighbour Totoro especially has a special place in my heart <3. Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, Grave of the Fireflies(I never cry for movies but oh boy, the tears sure fell for this one!), Kiki's delivery service, whisper of the heart, HOWL'S MOVING CASTLE (<3) , etc. I've seen so many anime I can't even remember now... the ones that stood out to me are Full Metal Alchemist (<3d Brotherhood), Vampire Knight, Rurouni Kenshin <3!, Clannad ... those are ones that come to mind instantly if I think of good series.

My first drama was Kurosagi. Since I started jdramas, I'm hooked... I love 1 litre of tears, if you guys haven't seen it, I highly recommend it! It's super sad, but it's excellent!

I liked both Battle Royale movies (clearly the 1st was better), Densha-Otoko was pretty cute (watched it in class), and the only animated movies I'm into are by Miyazaki.

There's a new movie out called Incite Mill: 7 Day Death Game (インシテミル 7日間のデス・ゲーム) that looked a bit like Battle Royale but with adults (it even has the same main character!). It's out on DVD so I watched it, and I must say, BR was better, but it's interesting if you're looking for something to kill the time!

Drama: Gokusen, GTO, Hana Yori Dango, Hana Kimi... there's no way I can pick just one. ^^;
Anime: Hetalia~! Also Bleach, Gurren Lagann, and Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood.
Movie: 七人の侍! xD 'Seven Samurai,' old but great. Oh, and Yojimbo, that's great, too.
Animated Movie: I absolutely adore all of Miyazaki's films, but if I had to pick a favorite... either Princess Mononoke or Return of the Cat.
Theatre Troop!: *pnish*

Oh! Also, has anyone here seen/heard of the Bleach Rock Musicals? I saw Bankai: 003 a year ago last January, and it was fantastic.

I'm really into Japanese horror. Big props for Battle Royale. However, I find most Japanese horror movies strange, which makes them even more interesting. So, if you haven't seen it, you should definitely check out UZUMAKI. It will kind of blow your mind and make you confused.

As far as animated movies, I really loved PERFECT BLUE the first time I saw it. So, of course, I loved PAPRIKA too.
h
As far as anime, I live and die by SAILOR MOON, owning every single episode. I have been watching it since I was about six years old. Recently, I've only been into Naruto and Bleach since I started college.

As far as manga, you absolutely MUST read DEATH NOTE. I have only read the manga, but it has an anime and movies. I didn't want to soil the awesomeness that was the manga by watching the anime and movies where things can change. It's highly addictive.

Sorry for bringing up manga. ;P

Nobody Knows is one of the most depressing movies I have ever seen! I watched it all the way to the end hoping for a happy ending.

Train Man was a REALLY cute movie, I agree. It's definitely one of those underdog movies where you are all, "You can do it!"

While posting over on ITIL, I remembered there's a Japanese kids show I love called ピタゴラスイッチ (Pitagora Suicchi, Pythagora's Switch). It's like Seasame Street, but for Japanese kids, and way more awesome. For people wanting to pick up some Japanese especially, I fully recommend it, and everyone else will prolly like it for the 十本アニメ (10 Stick Anime) and Rube Goldberg Machine segments. You can download on Datte Bayo and some other places (and since this show will never be licensed outside Japan, I don't feel bad pointing you to it). If you're super lucky and have access to Japanese TV (Keyhole TV doesn't have this channel...), it airs on NHK Educational about twice per week.

Any fans of"Hausu" here? A friend and I just watched it this week in complete bewilderment, which is to say it was thoroughly engaging from start to finish. Wacked-out visuals, creepy horror, a story inspired by the ideas of a 10-year-old girl, and a killer soundtrack to boot!

Oh my gosh! I watched this a few times when I was in Japan. It's very funny. I remember the name because they are always saying it every time they change segments. When I read the name, suddenly I heard it being sung in my head. Wow, I haven't thought about that in years.
