Hey HerrKaiser and all other Toronto JETs!

Can you keep an eye out for a 25 year old girl going to Kitami in Hokkaido? She's my new neighbour. Her pred sent her an email but I haven't heard as to whether she replied or not.

If you meet her, can you put her in touch with me?

Hello from Victoria!!! Just went to seminar weekend in Vancouver and it was awesome! Hear we get to have fancy dinner at the consulate's house?
There were lots of Sendai JETs there, so you get to meet lots of Vancouverites soon!

12 DAYS LEFT?! woah... so... I am hoping to send off a bunch of my stuff with sea post. Anyone in Ontario know of some cheap options? Is canada post the cheapest? It is $180 for a 50 lbs (22.5kg) box (approximately)
if anyone knows of a cheaper method please let me know! :)

Canadian Post is definitely not the cheapest option. Their English website doesn't list their prices, but you should try contacting Nippon Express and confirm what they offer. It should be $130 for 30kg through sea freight. You can try looking at their website too through Google Translate here - http://www.nipponexpress.ca/jpn/seapack.html?toronto I haven't used their service yet personally though, so I can't vouch for them.

Canada Post has definitely upped their prices then. I sent a 22.5 kg box, it was about $177. I sent another one that was about 12 kg and that was $140 or so. :(

Both were shipped via sea mail. (Their slowest and cheapest method)

One of my best times in Japan was volunteering in Kesennuma. I am sure you will love it and can do a lot of good there!

Good for you that you'll have someone to speak French close to you. It's good at times to speak freely, I miss that a bit as I feel like I've been forgetting French (it's my first language and it's only been 2 years lol). Kesennuma was hit pretty hard. I know a few people who went to help there. Still, people over there are survivors and they are strong. It's gonna be an interesting experience.

Hey Keshu, I'd like to participate for this year's JET program but I'm not sure if the working condition and lifestyles and everything would be adaptable for a montrealer like you and me ;).
If you can give me some feedback on your trip and employment, it would be great! I can't PM you unfortunately since i'm still a newbies ;(
