Oh, and congrats!

I don't know how or why this is happening to me now, but it can happen. Don't give up hope yet. Just live your life and take the opportunity if it comes.
Now to figure out how I am going to get everything in order in time...
P.S.-I hope many more of you get upgraded, sincerely.

Most of the shortlisters who went to the seminars wore sandals, coloured blazers, low-cut top, shorts, short skirts, etc, and the email clearly states, "Dress is Business Casual (Some clothing no no’s: no sleeveless or low cut tops, no jeans, no short skirts or short shorts)". They either don't understand English, don't know how to read, a complete ignorant or they don't give a damn. Really makes me wonder how they got in in the first place? What's more ridiculous was this shortlisted girl who we were talking to at one of the group lunches. She told us she was giving a job of graphic design and a 7 year relationship just to go, but wants the job back after a year. My girlfriend told me that during one of the all-girls section Q&A, she changed the subject from birth control pills to talking about how to engage in a relationship with teachers/students. I mean what the heck? Doesn't she have a 7 year relationship? GG JET program.

I'm not sure this is the appropriate forum (har har) to be complaining about that kind of stuff, especially about specific people who might recognize themselves from this post. It sounds like sour grapes at best. It's not for you to judge who was chosen and who wasn't. Also, I'm shortlisted and I definitely wore sandals (nice sandals!) to the Orientation weekend. Sorry if I offended you.

Did you offend me? Nope? Did you offend and ignore what the email said? Yes. So tell me, are you going to wear casual clothes to work when clearly the dress code says you have to wear business casual or business formal? Just asking.
PS: From you message, it looks more like that I offended you! I am so sorry I offended you for wearing sandals and not knowing how to follow simple instructions.

Cry harder?
Also I'm really confused as to how people neglecting to follow orientation seminar dress code reflects on the program. Are you disappointed in JET or jelly at the people who wear sandals yet still managed to get in?

Ika is totally jelly. It's summer, it's hot, people do what they want.
I'm not sure how it reflects on the program either. I doubt most of those people dressed that way to their interviews, so it's not like JET chose a bunch of slobs. Not on purpose anyway.
joycep wrote:So what happened when I got home? 3 very painful, bleeding wounds on the back and side of my ankles. I really wanted to attend the rest of PDOT so forgive me for sacrificing the business casual side of the shoes (my top and pants were totally business causal though!) when I tried to save my feet from further agony of wearing shoes that have back of the heels covered. I know at least another person with sandals (who was probably forestsprite!) Here's my side of the story![]()
Just let it be, maybe the PC noticed and would want to give my spot to someone else? (...M-san, If you're reading this, please don't give my spot to someone else!) This is probably a trial for the Tokyo Orientation for me, definitely no heels XDD And yes, the questions about teacher/student relationship was kind of awkward, but it could happen... and it's nice to be prepared...? I never would have thought about the advice about going to another town/city for dates. I am thinking of applying this advice when I try the onsen, so I won't encounter awkward moments with students and their families XDD
