fyi the android SDK comes with an emulator so you can get a decent start at it even without a phone

I have a LG Optimus M which has limited storage. So 5 megs would actually be a pretty bloated app for an Android like my LG Optimus M. Having the ability to move it to the SD card can really help with those androids have have very limited space. I'm sure higher tier Androids have larger internal storage.

Really, the Android just has crappy space management. Only media and docs store on the SD. Apps store on the internal memory.

Looks great so far. :) I'm glad you didn't attempt to make a port of the iOS version (like turntable.fm's new android app, which is insufferable). Looks fairly simple and too the point.

That's what I said I was using. That's where the screenshots came from. :)

Thanks, I wanted to keep it simple. The content is what matters.

OK guys. I'm ready for a second round of testers. If you are interested in testing the Android version of this app, please send an email to app [at] ajet.net and add the following info in your message...

Contact Info
Your Name:
Your Email:
Name to be Credited (what you want to appear in the app for being a tester):
Device Info
Brand:
Model #/Name:
Android Version (i.e. 2.1, 2.3, 3.1, etc.)

You'll need 2.0 or higher, but if you have lower, let me know and we might test that too.
Edit: Tablet users are welcome!

After a few days I'll email everyone the info they need to install and how to test. This will probably be on Monday. I'd like to publish by June 1st.

Thanks in advance!

Hey, the app looks great :)

I think maybe the medical terms (a little worrying how much I had to use that part of the JET diary last year...) might be better in more of a table format (even if it's just English on one side Japanese on the other)? It would mean less scrolling to find what you want. Maybe a search function? When you are reading it on paper it's easy to scan and find what you are looking for, it becomes a little bit more difficult on a smartphone.

I've been thinking of a way to reformat that better, so hopefully in the next update it'll be easier to find what your looking for.

Forgot to post the latest update for iOS that was approved awhile back. I imagine most have already updated, but for history sake and a bump...

What's New in Version 1.1.1 (Android users already had this content since launch)

☆Updates and/or Fixes☆
Fixed a bug where a file would load in the in app browser even after being loaded in other app, like Safari.
Fixed a small mistake under Japanese Phrases.
Fixed the romaji for "chicken" in the Food section under Japanese. - Thanks Paddy!
Updated the formatting of the menus a bit.
Made the status bar black.
Reformatted "Medical Terminology" for easier reading.

☆Content Added☆
Cooking Charts (F° to C°, cups, pans, etc)
How to pay your bills.
Futon and Tatami Care for your home.
Japanese Etiquette during introductions, parties, etc.
Using transportation in Japan.
Clothes Size Chart.
Shoe Size Chart.
More Train/Subway maps to get around Japan with. We'll try to add more soon.
Added a quick jump menu for "Medical Terminology" because it's so long. - Thanks cookiehearts

Hi,

I found a typo on the Japanese of 'This is my phone number'. It says でんわばん*ご* 電話番*語* but it should say でんわばん*ごう* 電話番*号*. I don't know if this has already been corrected on the newest update (I haven't updated my app in a while). I have the Android version, and the sentence is on the "ambulance/fire" page.

As a side note, I have no idea how to update my app... or how to check if there's an update available...

Thanks! This will be fixed in the next update. So far, I haven't updated past 1.1.1 for both iOS and Android, so no need to worry. I'm not 100% sure how updates for Android work, but I would think you would be notified and asked if you want to download/install the latest version.

Updated both iOS and Android versions to 1.1.2 for iOS6/iPhone 5 and Android 4.1 "Jelly Bean" compatibility.
Next update, which should be in October, will have some new content.

For some reason I missed a couple typos in the iOS version, but it'll be fixed in 1.1.3.
