Can't wait either. Though CIR placements are probably a lot different from ALT placements. As for how many, we shall see in the stats. Here in Montreal, there seems to have been quite a lot, as there was not enough space for me in the Japanese courses. (Not that I needed any basic class, considering my position...)

While it could be earlier, I wouldn’t start expecting placements until well into June, just based on what I’ve been told.
CIR and ALT placements are with very different contracting organizations, but they should all be sent out at the same time.
BTW, the numbers in Vancouver are actually slightly up this year, so it might just be that they happen to be less active on the forums or something.

Well into June? Wow, that will be a longer wait than I ever thought.

I just hope that finding a place where to stay won't be too much problem.

I think there might not be as many people in the forums from Vancouver/area. At the interview they said it should be around 50, so there are at least that many of us. On the forums however, there is only about 10 or so. Some people have disappeared too. But we really should hear something soon!!!!! Now that I am done all my paperwork since being upgraded, I am once again playing the waiting game. Not much to do until I know where I am going...

Yeah, I think some of us just aren't that active... I'm from Prince George, but I came here through Vancouver last month as a 2012 early departure. At April orientation there was also another guy from Vancouver who I don't think is on the forums. So of 3 early departure Canadians, 2 of us were "from" Van.

Not much? Are you crazy? I look at all the stuff I want to bring and... Woah. I'll have to go through all that... At least I know where I'll be able to get some stuff delivered before hand...

And all the papers. I know I'll have to go on August 2 to get my International Driving License... But I am lucky enough to have a highly accessible place to get it. I'll also have to get a few papers, and not living in your brith province can be a hassle. Many fun things.

true, there is lots to do, there is nothing that is particulary pressing at the moment, so i can relax for the moment, until placements come in

Just heard from Vancouver about seminars and Japanese lessons- looks like some good stuff to sign up for. Is there anyone here who has attended the Teaching English seminar in the past? I already have my TESL certificate, so I was wondering how useful this would be to me. I'll be going to the pre-departure seminar, but am not sure if I should stay to learn about teaching English.

That is weird, x-rays are usually free if you have bc medical- is it because it's a international/immigration related thing? Also, where in Victoria did you do yours, as I might need one done if I get upgraded, and it would be good to know what kind of places do this sort of stuff?

It's not covered because it's for work, apparently. :( They give you a receipt so that you can try to get your employer to reimburse you, so I assume you have to pay for any work, not just international. As for place, when I went to my doctor, the form she gave me had a whole list of places- there were about a dozen around Victoria, most of which are located along major bus routes. I did mine across the street from Hillside Centre.
Interesting...did you do it through your family doctor? If i need to get mine done, i hope that the walk-in clinic does it, because it also has the x-ray place and blood/etc. lab in the same building on Shelbourne and Mckenzie.

Thanks for the info!
I feel a little late in comparison to some of you, though time is still on my side :)

Can someone please fill me in? After my physician completed the health certificate form, I went for my x-ray, the MRI technician indicated that they did not have a film #. How did you provide your x-ray results? My DR mentioned that the final results of the x-ray will be provided upon her request. Is there another way to display the results without a film #?

Hey, Smasha. :)

I was placed in Hyogo-ken. I live in Aioi but teach in Kamigori. And yes, I AM having a blast! I'm so happy here! I'm so excited for those of you who are coming this summer! Too bad I can't meet you guys at Orientation, but maybe we'll see each other one day.

Huh? A film #? First time I have heard of it. As I understand, JET doesn't need the actual x-ray, but the doctor has to see the x-ray in order to fill out the form. Mine was fairly easy, because the walk-in clinic i did it at, and the x-ray lab are all in the same building. They sent me to do it all right away, and I had the form in my hand in less than two hours. With a family doctor, it would be different, but I have no insight on that. Which province/city do you live in?

I think this is one of those Digital X rays that does not require a film (you guys are too advanced XD) Best to ask CalgaryPC if maybe the doctor can write something else beside the film number (like 'digital image with no film number' or something) as long as it's the doctor who wrote it and can confirm it.
