My Chances

Postby lalata » Fri May 11, 2012 2:54 am

Hey y'all,
I'm looking to be applying for the Jet Scheme real soon. I'm from the UK, and I go to Bristol University. I'm half Japanese, and I speak pretty much fluent Japanese and my only problem is writing but that can be sorted out.
I'm working towards a Bachelor degree in History but I've had plenty of experience in Japan and I go there every summer.
I went to a Grammar school, if y'all don't know what that is, it's where only geniuses like me are allowed to attend, and I went to a Private school before then. I like to think of myself as a risk-taker and being quite determined.
I'm sorry to be telling you my life story like this, but do y'all think a guy like me is what the JET Scheme is looking for? Basically what I'm trying to say is that I've already experienced Japanese culture, I already know the language and I am ethnically half Japanese. Would this mean that they wouldn't exactly want me to do this scheme?
Thanks

I believe this has already been addressed in your previous thread, which can be found here: viewtopic.php?f=26&t=11410

Ethnicity is not a requirement of the JET Program. Please see the official site for information on what is required to apply.

The simple answer is: ESID (every situation is different). I know people who are half Japanese and half other race/nationality who are shortlisted and going this year. So if you are concerned that this will disqualify you the answer is no.

Obvious troll is incredibly freaking obvious.

Try harder

If you are completely serious in this whole thing, one day when you enter the real world you'll realise that people don't give a crap about what University or school you went to. If you start every conversation with 'well I went to Bristol University y'all' you're going to be labelled as a pretentious hick

Gotta say, I dunno if they'll take you. The ethnicity thing isn't a problem, but well...there's no nice way of saying this, sorry...I don't want to be rude here, but...well, you went to Bristol. I mean, seriously, Bristol. WTF were you thinking, sah?
Maybe if you'd gone to a respectable university, like Universidade de Mexico Clown College, or Bovine University, you might have a chance, but well...you went to Bristol.

I thought there were only two universities in the UK? What is this "Bristol" you speak of?
