As for repayment of loans you can set up a standing order with your bank to where you would like it to go. If you are going that way salaries run around the 16th to the 21st of the month, when you remit to trinidad it takes approxiamtely 2-3 days to arrive in your bank account so maybe you can use that as your guide as to tell the bank when you want the standing order sent. Online shopping may be your best options at times so if you dont have a credit card get a VTM card so u can load and use!

the other expenses would be those comfort things you get for yourself to come with like make up etc etc and or if you need to pay like key money etc so thats why i said 3000usd as a minimum.

This is Jody...i'm a 3rd, going into my 4th year JET from Jamaica. I live in Yamanashi Prefecture....which is about 1 hr and 30 mins from Tokyo, and 2 hours max from Yokohama, and Saitama. So if anyone is placed in and around those areas feel free to give me a shout.

I haven't been able to thoroughly read through your posts...but I am a past T.O.A (Tokyo Orientation Assistant) as well as a Prefectural Presenter ( so I pretty much, offer advice, and counsel to anyone who needs it pre-arrival, post arrival, and pretty much as long as you're here).

Feel free to I.M. me, or to ask any questions you may have regarding prepping, etc....I look forward to meeting you all...either this year once again in Tokyo during orientation, and more than likely at your respective Embassy events....

There is one event best to dress as formally as possible aka a nice dress, suit black is a welcomed colour you will soon learn. It doesnt last very long though you have fingure foods people make speeches, and the press take pictures which will be in the paper after you leave !!! Prior to being shuttled to the ambassador's home you will be at the embassy you will meet the travel arrangement will talk about things in a very calm manner etc etc after the orientation it was all SPEED !

I have been on the jamaican forum. There are quite a few there. Trinis, i have no idea, n it seems like im the only bajan here who has been shortlisted. I kno last yr 9 bajans were on the prog. And a bit more trinis. But for right now, this forum has gone silent. It was buzzing pre-interview and pre selection stage. Wud be nice if others pitched in and keep contact so wen Orientation comes we wud have made some sort of ties, Jamaican forum has done that. *im still jumping aroundddd* btw

I still visit the forums every other day or so. The trinis will show up mman. So keep stalking. Probably as soon as the other stage is known ie placements. U will get some more imput from them.
