I imagine like myself everyone wants to get stuff sorted sooner rather than later just in case there are any problems!

Trudi, i would advise booking in for an appointment with your doctor now, as i couldn't get an appointment until 10 days after the day i called, then i had to go for my x-ray, and then i have another week to wait for results to be back with my doctor so i can make another appointment with my doctor and have all of my medical things signed off. Each thing could take longer than expected so i would say, to be safe, sooner rather than later

Going to a 2 hour free Japanese taster course next week-very excited!

Question, has anyone had a false positive mantoux and then had confirmation with an xray as well?

Got my police reply today! It looks very similar to the form ljoekelsoey4 posted and states that the PNC has been checked, but I may just confirm with the JET desk to clarify.

Have my x-ray results on Tuesday so hopefully it'll be all clear and ready to go!

Ooh sounds good! I was looking for Japanese classes in my area, but I seem to have just missed the boat. Will have to pester some friends and see if they'll listen to my appalling Japanese

Did most people who applied for the police reply through ACRO get an email confirmation? They've cashed my cheque so I assume they've received my stuff but a bit worried all the same. I might call them to check.

By the way, on the Certificate of Health, how did everyone's doctor fill in the eyesight part of the form? My doctor didn't really know what to do and used the visual acuity from my prescription and then tested my eyesight with my glasses on. I didn't check the form until after the appointment but she basically filled in the same thing on both the without glasses and with glasses bit. I don't know if that's right since it doesn't really reflect the fact that I do wear glasses and have a pretty strong prescription.

It says on the notes that you need to get the opticians to fill it in if you wear glasses/contacts. I took mine to my local Specsavers (where I get my lenses from) and they found it very exciting! Gave me a colour blindness test and filled out the with and without sections for me, then signed and stamped it. Were very helpful!

I did the same at my local specsavers and they were also super excited They were really great about the whole thing as well. Go Specsavers.

What a pain, my mantoux test came back positive which my doc said would be an indication that ive had my BCG injection (I didnt seem to have one at 14 because i already had immunity when they did the heaf test). Looks like ill have to really hope the chest xray comes out clear!

I dont feel like I can fully appreciate being offered a place due to all this pending medical stuff, and keep having bad thought that maybe i have TB and never knew!!! ARGH!

Fortunately mine came back negative, so once my GP's signed off on it I can send it off and hopefully forget about all this paperwork malarky. Going to send it off as soon as I can (rather than waiting for the Police Reply) so that if there's a problem I have time to rectify it.

Woo just been to the hospital this afternoon a negative mantoux there is literally nothing on my arm so now I have to wait 2 weeks until my doctors get my results and then can get all my medical filled out at once. Means its just going to cost me 80 for my form but still seems a lot for an alternate. I know in comparison ičm lucky though going to try and go to specsavers this weekend. I need my eyes retesting anyway so i dont mind paying for that ,

I wouldn't worry about it, a friend of mine went through the same thing (she was also inherently immune to TB) and the doctor said the Mantoux positive was just a false positive. She got the X ray and was totally fine . On another subject, just had the doctor sign off on my health certificate. It's a mighty fine feeling.

Annoyance is I had a chest xray for a cough that wouldnt shift in jan, and that came back clear.... its a shame i have to go and get another one as the jan one doesnt fit into the timeline that JET asks for!

Been reading through this forum about costs etc with paperwork and I feel mighty lucky, the day I got my letter saying I was short-listed I went to the police station and got my form sent away for the police check (£10).
The medical was a bit harder but lucky one of my parent's works in medical profession and told me to just ask for a normal doctors appointment and then at the time tell them it was for a full medical. The doctor found it quite funny as he realised that I must have known someone who would know how to get round the system as I got my appointment on the day I asked rather than having to wait two weeks (which is the norm for that practice). He filled it all out there and then except x-ray which he made me an appointment at the drop in x-ray centre in the city hospital for the next day. I asked if this would cost me, he said "if I don't tell them what it's for they will think I need to get you checked for something" and I got off scot free. When I got my results I went back to pick up my form and the woman behind the desk did not mention any charges, the doctor even walked past and wished me luck in Japan as I was leaving.
I feel very lucky to have got such a nice doctor to do my medical. As I was expecting to pay quite a bit after reading some of the things on the forum. Now as of last wednesday all forms have been sent away and according to the royal mail website have arrived at the embassy and been signed for!
