LOL the secret battle cry should work...or maybe we can get that lovely flying squirrel to act as a carrier pigeon of sorts, I'm sure he'd be happy to help us out, bahaha

Or yes, I suppose there's always wifi ;)

sorry, nope!

wifi is pretty much nonexistent in Japan. there was hard-wired internet access at the hotel last year and i highly doubt that's changed, so you'll have to share the wire/connection with your roommate(s), but it's obviously completely possible to get online/make meeting arrangements regardless.

WHAT! I was under the impression the Japanese were high-tech and therefore presumed Wi-Fi would be plentiful... networks would be fighting for me to join them... Will just have to set up a SoftBank account asap.

Lol, yeah. I doubt the hotel has wifi still. As mentioned they do have ethernet Internet (byo cable I think) , but since you'll have room mates, it's hard to do anything besides check a few emails.

Also, between the jet lag, and busy schedule you guys won't have time to do anything during those 3 days (i. e: noob ALT's trying to organizing a night out) . :p

When you get to orientation you'll probably want to meet up with your fellow ken ALT's and go out drinking with them.

If you guys really wanted to organize something you could always make a big sign and hold it up in the lobby while everyone is coming down to go out drinking. :)

It's the best cure for jet lag. ;) You have a couple nights to go out partying, so it's nice to mix it up. :)

Yes, but you'd have to specify that it was "GAY BEER."

If you're looking for a way to meet up, why don't you ask the coordinators in charge of the venue if you can use an area to meet, or for a map of the area so that you can plan where to meet. I've heard that there is some speech or presentation about GLBT JETs, so maybe you can get them to make an announcement then. They might be willing to let you do that, though if you plan to go clubbing they might remind you to be good role models and be on good behavior.
