Placement Information

Hi all,

I had a question as to Placement information. Have any consulates given the shortlisters any indication as to when their placement information will be sent through?

I only ask because the two people in my town will both be leaving after this year (their five years are up!) and I`m excited to find out when there will be any information of who might be coming in to take the positions.

I fail to remember when my placement notification came through last year and/or if there was any estimate date when I was shortlisted...

If last year is anything to base things off of, placement notifications usually come out in mid-to-late May. This year might be a bit sooner, but not sure. Based off of the emails I had with people in Takayama before I came (and people I talked to on here before I got here) the current ALTs will sometimes have a bit of advanced notice, but (at least in many BoEs) not allowed to contact the new JETs until after the supervisor has made initial contact.

At least, that's how it worked last year for people in Gifu prefecture for the most part.

Well I received an email from our coordinator in Melbourne I think on monday which said that we should find out around mid may. so that's not too far away. but then again "early april" turned out to be the 18th when waiting for my shortlist notification
