First and foremost, congratulations!

I thought it would be a good idea to have a place for us to all talk about paperwork, placements, and everything else. We can start a placement list and hopefully map as soon as everyone is informed! Also a good place to connect with people at the same consulate and set up meetings!

Hi and congratulations, fellow shortlisters! I'm Bex of the Atlanta consulate. It's so freakin surreal. Though I didn't know JET existed way back then, I have wanted this since about 1998. I've had so many starts and stops for various reasons - but I guess this time there's no stopping! I just. Wow. About three and a half months from now, we will be in Japan. And the cool thing is we will be the 2012 class, basically. We will always have this connection to each other. Sorry, a bit mushy there, but as merkypie said, all the feels! Gonna get all the paperwork going tomorrow, can't handle looking at it tonight/.

Now the next wait begins: placement! So where did everyone request to go? I believe I said Sendai (have friends there), Mito (Ibaraki-ken), and Kanagawa-ken. I would really like to be placed relatively close to one of the coastlines, since walking/running the beach is essential to my peace of mind. But of course, anywhere they send me, I'll be happy! What areas did you all request?

I was silly and requested Nakano-ku and Chiba-shi (ok, maybe Nakano is the sillier of the two), since I'm familiar with them. But I don't care where I go!! Though it would be nice to be within hanging-out distance from my friends.

I had to look up Nakano-ku~ I almost requested Chiba, but at the time I thought JET wasn't placing anyone within spitting distance of Tokyo. Even though I think I actually put Yokohama down, lol. I read up on the Chiba section of these forums, and they are placing there, though! I definitely want to at least visit Chiba, because I want to go to the Chinese restaurant Keikarou.
