Yeah mon, BradaPeace here. I'm a self confessed lover of the Caribbean accent. My username gives it away. I'm from Africa, South Africa and i'm also an aspiring 2012 JET Applicant. Good luck to all the Caribbean masses. I would love to meet some of you guys in Japan (that is, if i get accepted)

Hey well firstly be early they will notice, secondly be sharply suited, when you go into the room smile relax be excited to converse with them. Below i will list some questions they gave me:

Why do you want to come to Japan?
What is your favourite thing about Japan?
Are u concerned about cultural differences?
What age group would you like to teach and why?
How do u plan to deal with discipline and motivation in the classroom ?

Remember last year there was the earthquake and nuclear meltdown look out for questions on such, answer honestly enjoy it ! Dont be surprised that the interview takes just about 9 minutes lol ! They may ask if you have any questions be sure u have one in your back pocket this shows them your interest! Sell yourself !

Heya, how did everyone who was successful to the Interview stage manage??? I swore mine wudnt end....I was thrown questions from two interviewers and yes the current events questions came. I was pretty much prepped for those. My interview lasted 35 mins lol. I am nOt even considering if thats a bad or good thing. This forum has been pretty quiet so i figured ill get some dialogue going. The wait begins and personally I hav decided to forget about the interview. They threw all sorta questions my way, but it was a laidback chat more or less :)

I don't know what to think about my interview. It was really short, about less than 10 minutes. After the interview all the things I could have said came to me. I don't feel good about the interview but I hope that already being an ESL teacher works to my advantage.

Dont worry Meela my interview was exactly 9 minutes long and am in Japan, imho the length of time it takes in the interview doesnt have much to do with it. The JET criteria seems to be quite a secret so there is hope still. :D

Good day all...greetings to all the craibbean massive. The interviews are over in Jamaica...I was shortlisted, did my interview and have remained very clam. To all u new Jets...just keep an open mind, remember that the coin can b flipped either way.

I am a second time Jet applicant "got short listed both times" figured my interview when well. My first time they asked a question about crime in jamaica and why would my student wanna visit...trust mi I thought I gave them a flawless answer to this question...but they kept asking me the same question (3 times) to b exact. So I knew I wasn't telling them what they wanted to hear. Anyways that's over and done with...

My friend who is a current Jet encouraged me to apply again. After the long thought process...I applied. # shortlisted again  ! I changed nothing!! My Sop was the same, job was the same, interests, NOTHING changed! However, when I reported for my interview looking pretty sharp (black suit) I felt a difference in the room. The panel was not as large as it were on my first interview...questions also varied...from who is "kymberlee to if I wanted to be on the programe so I can go visit my friends (living in Japan)...guys they were down right brutal...but since I entered with n open mind, I did not make their efforts ditter me. I kept my eyes on the prize (the experience of living in Japan)...

Now I am eagerly awaiting April 1st, 2012 because I don't think I can manage rejection twice!!! So cheers to all caribbean people n hopefully we'll meet in Toyoko.
