One I haven't seen yet but would like to is 'Harimaya Bridge' which was written and directed by an ex-JET (Aaron Woolfolk).

You should probably watch this video too.

It's not a movie, but it's very informative.

The wife and I just finished watching Big Man Japan (Dai Nihonjin). We both laughed pretty hard at this one. Get ready for a super strange ending if you happen to watch it.

If you like old school Godzilla movies seen made fun of, then this is the movie for you.

Jiro Dreams of Sushi is a film coming out in March here in the States. Just ran across a trailer for it online. It's about an 85 year old sushi chef that runs a small, but gourmet, shop in the Ginza subway called Sukiyabashi Jiro. Sort of a biographical documentary about the man and what makes him tick, following him through his daily routine. Sounds really good, and gives a little insight to "real" Japanese culture.

I personally found this one a tad bit more informative.

OMGGG my personal theme song. I worked at a Lawson while I did my study abroad in Sapporo, and I somehow ended up having that song stuck in my head at the end of every shift without fail.

Watch a movie called "All about Lily Chou Chou" to get a perspective on some of the problems young people face with the Japanese education system and growing up in Japanese society.

It's a bit meandering but I seriously recommend it.

Good advice Haku. I forgot all about that one. It's an incredibly sad, sometimes distressing movie that challenges a lot of assumptions about Japanese teenagers. "Nobody Knows" is also another very sad film based on a true story.
