Thank you soo much for the support guys!
I don't have any problem speaking in english in public, it was just before the interview that i was concerned, because I knew they would check my english level, more than if I were english canadian.

@Smasha : you are right, we have a lot of experience learning other languages and living in other countries! Я не боюсь! удачи тебя! давай встретимся в Японии!

Now that all Canadian interviews are done, I wish all the applicants good luck! I'm sure the interviews went well and I'm looking forward to meeting the successful Ottawa candidates in the coming months.

As always, I'm curious how the applicants in Ottawa thought the interviews went.

My interview was in Ottawa and I thought it went alright. Everybody was really friendly and the JET DVD that was playing in the lobby really helped distract us all. Chatting with the other interviewees and previous JETs was really interesting. So even if I didn't make it, it at least turned out to be a pleasant experience. :D

Awesome! I hope the interview itself went well too.

I always find chatting with previous JETs really interesting, but maybe I'm a little biased...

I'm happy to hear the JET DVD helped, and overall your interview was a pleasant experience.

Yeah the JET DVD was great! Last year I was way too stressed so I didn't pay much attention to it, but I listened to it a lot better this year and it gave me some ideas of what to say in the interview. Of course, all the things it made me think of weren't answers to questions I was asked, but... XD

You didn't miss much with the DVD, the one I got to watch was so cringeworthy I struggled to maintain the pretence of nodding politely to the former JET and saying it was interesting.

The highlight was when a participant dressed up in their national costume, smeared some facepaint on and proceeded to perform a terrible rain dance ritual or something in front of his students. The look of disinterest mixed with pity on their faces pretty much said it all.

And yet, that will be your job if you get accepted to the programme.

I dunno, I thought the DVD was fairly interesting. I found the hosts a little creepy, they were very formal and it came across as too much so at times. The segments themselves were great in my opinion. You got a chance to see what some of the kids were like and some of the scenarios could look like. I think that it was great to have in the interview pre-room as it gave people something to take their mind of the impending interview. Also, I think it is easy to criticize something, but if you're selected as a JET and you were to watch the entire DVD I am willing to bet that you would be thanking them multiple times for putting it together. I am positive that any JET watching it would likely take a lot a way from it, have a few questions answered or just feel more prepared having seen it.

Yeah, in Vancouver they just had a reception area where you'd sign in, from there they sent you to the location of your interview room and you'd sit on a chair beside the door waiting for them to call you in. No one to really talk to during the waiting time LOL.

But for the video, I'm guessing it's the same one that was shown to us during an information session we had on campus once? Perhaps it's different?
