Individual consulates handle e-mailing the results, but last year, all the results came out within a day or two of each other.

Also, remember that the interviews weren't delayed by the initial round of results, so they should be back on schedule.

That would be awesome. I'm going on a trip on April 4th so I would love to know on the third. However, if we're going to start placing bets...
I'm going with April 10th. :)

Anyone else want in?

They will pretend to post the results on April 1st with everyones name on it.....then send another saying, APRIL FOOLS!!!
but really April 6th sounds good. They seem to like Friday releases. Are we getting the results via email or snail mail?

I actually ran into one of the guys that interviewed me last week. It was much more relaxed than the interview. I know it's speculation, and even the interviewers don't know for sure, but I think he mentioned April 16th. At least I instantly marked it on my calendar. Thats a Monday.

If it's snail mail, they could all go out on the same day but people would be getting them at different times. That would be even more stressful wouldn't it? Knowing others have found out already but waiting for it to show up?

I have heard in the past you get both an email and snail mail, but you get the email before the snail mail.

I wonder what their plans are for early decision notification, if April 10th is the earliest placement date for that? Unless I'm remembering that date wrong.

Mid March for ED
Mid April for ND.

ED departs April 10th. So we'd have to be notified at least a month prior, or a little less than, from that departure date. ND is just a ballpark number.... Probably be the end of April for all we know.

Hey guys,

I'm a first year in Fukui too and it seems like I was the only one in recent living memory to put Fukui as number 1 on my application. Honestly, if you did, there is a very very high likelihood that you will get it haha! It's supposedly the third least known/cared about prefecture but it's also the HAPPIEST! Woot! Loving it here btw it's awesome!

I heard you guys requested Fukui on your application :D

I'm a first-year ALT here in Fukui, and I absolutely love it. Hopefully I'll be meeting some (or all!) of you in the summer!

I hope so too! Fukui sounds like an amazing place to live, so I hope I get my first choice! (that is, if I get shortlisted) lol

See!? Fukui is filling up fast. So much for my theory of picking somewhere out of the way. Crossing my fingers that there will be room. If not, my second choice was Niigata. Similar, no?

This is a bit early, but once the short list is announced, everything starts to happen quickly!

In April (normal departure)
To those on the short list: Placements will be announced June-ish, to allow time for more layers of decision and administration. When they arrive, check out the `Regional Information` threads found on the Board Index. There, you may be able to connect with folks in your prefecture and get more detailed, local information. At that time, your predecessors will hopefully also be in direct contact with you about your specific jobs, living situation, etc.

To those not on the short list this time: Your time, energy, and efforts were greatly appreciated during the application/interview process. Best wishes on your future endeavours!

Congrats to all.

Has anyone actually come up with an accurate percentage of who will get shortlisted? I did some number counting the night before my interview and found that 1549 interviews were offered in the US. Using previous years numbers I found that there would be somewhere around 800 spots available. If I am correct this means about half will get shortlisted, with maybe 10-15% more getting alternated. I wanted to see if this matched anyone else.

I think you'd have to be a clairvoyant math whiz to get an accurate percentage. Every year varies depending upon how many current JETs recontract and what specific requests contracting organizations may make with regards to nationality, hometown, driver's license, etc... Consider as well that dozens of countries are providing JET candidates. So, even the coordinators (at least the non-CLAIR ones) can't give you any sort of estimate on numbers, since we ourselves don't know.

Thanks, I figured as much. I just thought perhaps I could get an idea based on previous years.

Don't forget that the number of interviews includes BOTH ALTs and CIRs.....And, there's no way to distinguish how many of each...
