Hi, I'm probably nit-picking here but does the photo HAVE TO BE 3cm by 4 cm? I read somewhere that it should be a passport photo but those are larger than that size. I'm pretty sure they won't kill me on the spot for being an inch bigger on each side but I really want to make sure not to piss anyone off.
Thanks.

OttawaPC said somewhere that passport photo is perfectly fine. I'm not sure if your voucher is the same but it does state on the voucher that passport photos are acceptable.

I had my interview in Vancouver on Monday, and I brought in a (larger than specified on voucher) passport photo. It wasn't a problem at all! :)

It just occurred to me - although I never asked in my interview - Will the consulate contact successful as well as unsuccessful candidates? I was told we would find out Late-March/Early April, but didn't think to ask whether they will let us know either way.

Hoping my question can get answered fairly quickly. Just arrived in Halifax a little while ago and was going over everything I need for tomorrow. I'm interviewing tomorrow at 11:20 am. It looks like my passport got left at home. I have my driver's license and my student id card with a validation sticker from 2010-2011. Anyone know if this could be accepted as valid id? I emailed the jet@mofa address but thought I'd post here too.

I brought my drivers license for interview so you should be fine. :)

You only need one of the Ids you've stated. The point of them is just to verify you indeed are the applicant on the papers so don't worry about it! :)

I had passport photos at home but couldn't use them for jet as they were reserved for something else. tried scanning and reprinting a copy on photo paper only to find out that it was too big! went through a whole lot of trouble to shrink it down to the 3 by 4 size. would have been nice to know i could have brought in the exact copy!!!! soooo much ink wasted!!!!

For those who still have their interviews coming up, here's a PRO-TIP:

Eat before going to your interview! Have a light snack right before it or something... I ate breakfast the day of my interview but by the time it came around I didn't realize how hungry I got! My stomach growled a little bit during the interview... hopefully the interviewers didn't dock marks off for that! =S

Yeah, I should have bought food or packed a small baby to eat or something, but I think my anxiousness suppressed my hunger lololololol.

Oh so I heard the Odds are like.... 1 in 3 at least.... that makes me feel a little bit more confident.
And if the number goes up..... thats even better. that means that.....40% of us COULD go... theoretically...

Hmmm.... interesting.....

ANy one happen to know around how many people DONT get interviews???

If they heard, I'm sure they're thinking "What a loser! We ain't hiring someone who can't even feed himself!" ;P Really, that's just silly!

I would still guess it's 1/3 to be safe...for the past few years, only around 45 ALTs get in from Canuck-city and ~150 people were interviewed.

When I submitted my application, I was applicant #1566 and that was submitting a week earlier than the due date! I suppose around 2500-3000 applied Canada wide?

Hi all,
I had my interview yesterday in Halifax. The interviewers were super nice! I feel i did okay in the interview and stumbled on a few questions. Some of the questions were more about specific events in Japan and I really didn't have great answers for them, but I believe me being honest about it and not trying to give them a BS answer helped. I AM always super critical of myself. Maybe it wasn't as bad I think. LOL! I have only really been learning Japanese seriously on my own in the past month but I did try some with them. I introduced my self, said hello and nice to meet you. I hope they appreciated that although I have only started I am trying to learn SOME things. I hope everyone has success in their interviews. Now the waiting period begins. I think I would have rather them just say there that you didn't get selected than having to wait. At least I would know. HAHA.

Does anyone know if we are selected, what are the deadline dates for our criminal check and health certificate. I know that if I have to get certian things done it probably going to cost me and if can skip having to spend money for things that I will not be needing would be great.
