So I'm considering wearing a deep red blouse instead that has a nice, straight collar. I don't know if it matters much or at all, but I've heard that white, cream, and light blue blouses are usually the way to go for interviews. Thoughts? Does anyone think the red one would be weird?

I certainly don't think red would be weird to wear to your JET interview.

Quick question, not necessarily attire related.. I always carry a journal with me. It's a thick bright pink (I know) spiral notebook that I use to take down notes (I always take notes) and going without it will make me feel a bit naked. That said, will I be able to take my notebook with me into the interview and take down notes (possible questions) while it's going on or would that be a "aarrghh!! you can't do that!!" type of thing?

do not take notes during your interview! DO NOT!!!that is the interviewers job!!! you can take your stuff in with you, but you should focus on the panel and their questions. You can write stuff down afterwards so you remember for future reference, but not during! Maintain eye contact with the panelists, smile, and always look up!

Unless things have changed since I did my interview last year, you will not be able to take ANYTHING into the interview. I wanted to take a notebook with me to the interview as well (since I had some questions I wanted to ask written inside). No dice though.

it depends on how your interview location is set up. i interviewed in Vancouver, at SFU harbour Centre, and the reception area/room was not attached to the interview room(s). there were in two different places, so we all kinda had to keep our stuff with us, and take it into the interview room

pah! Oh man, okay. I'll guess that I'll just sit there... on a chair... with nothing between me and Them... so, can I bring a piece of paper at least?

eFred, I would recommend practicing for your interview without paper or any journal. You mentioned that you used them a little like a shield. You don't want the interviewers to think you're hiding behind anything. Show them that you don't feel naked under pressure without anything on hand. You can do it!

Thanks for everyone's input. I'll try. (Which will be hard as I take my notebook with me even if I'm just walking to a corner shop). Interview is in 7 days (I'm counting).

Well you won't be taking it into the interview so get used to it in those 7 days ;)

For the record, the most important thing you can wear is a genuine smile!

Regarding `black tights`:
Is this also a question of tights Vs. hose?

I`ve seen black hose look very professional.
However, thick, black tights/leggings can look
very casual.

*A Japanese co-worker just mentioned that black
hose can be considered `edgy` would not suggest
it for a job interview. She votes natural hose or
pants!

On the job, and in general however, ESID...

There are sheer black hose (I would consider this inappropriate) and opaque black tights (this is what I plan to wear). They do not have the same thickness/casual style as leggings. Now that you say that, I know the thick tights/leggings you're thinking of, and I cannot imagine anyone thinking those would be great for a job interview!

I'm surprised to hear that black hose is considered inappropriate.... I've worn it to plenty of interviews/jobs and never got flagged. Why is it considered inappropriate?

Possible conclusion: Maybe it's a Japanese thing? (I also fail to see the 'inappropriateness of black hose)

Because it has "sexy" connotations there that it does not have here.

It makes much more sense explained like this.
