I'm in Seattle, and I have received a basic itinerary; I am pretty sure I have a direct flight. I would be shocked if LA and SF didn't have direct flights as well, considering that they are fairly common already. Some of the more inland consulates might have their JETS fly to another airport first though...

I found out yesterday that I am flying through Detroit, which seems weird because I live in the south and that is not a coastal airport. Oh well, we're going to Japan, right?!

the first time i came to Japan (from the south) was also connected via Detroit. there's a large Japanese population--because of the car industry i think?--so it's a major airport for flights to Japan.

Hi group C people :) Congrats to you all.

Since you'll have less time to settle down and get to know you city/town/school before you start actual work I'd suggest preparing your introduction class if you have time. Your first class will be mostly about introducing yourself... Try to make it interesting. Asking students a few questions, making a powerpoint with pictures and such. I was surprized that students were really into things that I didn't thought interesting. Try to put many things while making it a bit funny but useful.. The teachers you'll work with probably expect some of it to become questions for the mid-term test (At least it was where I worked). Students are not used to interaction with teachers much.. doesn't help for volunteering so make it interesting and funny. You have a city mascot? Something famous from where you grew up? Put it!

Thanks for the advice Keshu! I've been trying to be really productive before I depart.

Is everyone ready to go? I finally have everything I need, and I'm getting really excited! I'm looking forward to meeting all of you at orientation!
