I have a sneaking suspicion that I will be placed in the prefecture that has a sister state relationship with my state...

Which is?

My hometown has a very strong relationship with Fukui City for historical reasons, but who knows... only time will tell where we'll all be placed!

Yamanashi Prefecture, which would be fine with me. The reason I think this way is that everyone I know from my state who has done JET has gone to Yamanashi and apparently the Yamanashi government really likes Iowa or something O.o. We have quite a few cultural exchanges and educational exchanges and such.

Are these reply forms forwarded to us by our coordinators in our home countries?

That is correct, after accepting a place in the JET Programme my placement was sent to me VIA e-mail from the consulate that I applied through. Heard other people got paper placements tho.

Knowing that placements are so close means that I will spend the majority of my workday tomorrow checking my email and just pretending to work when the boss comes in - not that this is much different than usual, LOL. But seriously, I'm so excited! I can't wait to find out!!

I was talking to my supervisor the other day and he told me we're getting two Americans and one Brit. I am the only American in our "city," so I am super excited for you two. I know your gender and what states you're from, but I don't know if I can post that. :-P
The wait last year was making me crazy! Everything was delayed because of 3/11. :-(

Edit: If you're an American or a Brit, look up Hagi in Yamaguchi Prefecture. You could be coming here. ;-)

I took a break from the forum for a while after the short list came out because I was utterly spent (waiting in DC was torture) but you guys seem to think placements are imminent. Is there any reason? I thought we weren't going to be finding out until June? Don't get me wrong I would LOVE to know where I am going to be spending the next year or so of my life, but looking back at past placement notifications it looks like it is always in June. Hopefully I am wrong though :D

I might be wrong, but I think last year was the only year it was June, and that was because of 3/11. It really does seem like placements are coming soon, though, because our preds already know who we are, and they just can't tell us until our consulates do! So I would guess this means the news is coming very soon. (today?? Maybe?? Wishful thinking??)

Well that would be a pleasant surprise. It would also motivate me to pack a little more than I have been. The boxes all over my apartment are mocking me.

I can't find the motivation to pack either. I need to know where I'm going to know what to pack. I have been Craig listing as much as possible. Every once in awhile my husband and/or son ask "where is that?" it cracks me up that it usually takes them a week to notice it missing. * my hubby knows what I'm selling before I do it. I'm not that big of a jerk.

all of the posts on the 'regional' thread welcoming the incoming JETs to their prefecture makes me think that the placement notification is imminent...or do they know something that we don't know?!?!!?

or do they think that we somehow already know our placements????

Many of those leaving already know or at least their offices do.

Oh,please tell us the gender and states! :D The only shortlisters I know from my state are all female, including me, so it would hardly be enough for us to really pinpoint who it is. And I looked up Hagi - right on the water, my favorite kind of town.
