I was upgraded about a week and a half after the shortlist came out and was wondering does that mean information is on the way about where i'll be headed, or is there a much longer wait on the way. Not complaining so grateful for the upgrade :D just curious, uber excited and want to be able to tell people where abouts I am going so I don't hear "oh your leaving in about two months, where were you placed?" .... ummm!!

Not everyone has received their placements, yet. LA is expected to hear about theirs no later than May 30. Same with Denver, I believe it was. In any case, you probably have some time to wait, too.

When I was upgraded I asked the Chicago Coordinator and he told me that from his experience it would probably not be that long after everyone else finds out. I think they may intentionally hold back the placements for upgraded ALTs in order to prevent the consulates from having to release Shortlist and Upgraded placements at the same time. I'll just take an educated guess on next week. I saw someone who was upgraded last year say he found out his placement about a week after everyone else began releasing theirs.

I'm fairly certain our placements have been more or less decided and are just working through the bureaucratic process.

I was upgraded after a couple weeks and got my placement maybe about a week after the original shortlisters? Then I was on the same track as everyone after that.... heard from my pred, BoE, and left with Group A like everyone. r

Your consulate could probably give you a better answer about when you should hear.

Miyazaki...how I love thee....let me count the ways. Welcome to our wonderful prefecture! Congrats on making it through the lengthy JET hiring process. Now, only a few more months of waiting and preparing until you will finally be here. We look forward to your arrival and are here to answer any questions you may have about life in the Zaki.

Haha, okay good! I'm sure you'll love Japan and if you can kind of get around at least with knowing some Japanese, even better! Haha, no worries, we'll go for sure!!! :P

Well, it's official: Niigata-ken - Sado-shi! I've read some mixed reviews of living on Sado Island, but I really couldn't be more pleased to be going to such a distinctive part of Japan. Anybody who doubts this islands unique awesomeness need only watch this video about Sado Island and its most famous denizens, the legendary taiko group Kodo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pl ... OUi5fDm0KE

Now to run around frantically for 2 months until I finally get on the plane...

That's is amazing! I saw Kodo perform live in Madison, WI a few years ago and was absolutely blown away. Congratulations on such an awesome placement!

Hi again, Pierre!

Thanks for contacting me again. I'm going to send you another great big e-mail soon!

Hey everyone, congrats on getting a placement in Japan. I'm currently a 4th year in Hokkaido, if any of you are placed here don't forget to check the HAJET forum at http://www.hokkaidojets.org/. You can find your predecessor there! Also if any of you have questions about Hokkaido there's a good chance I can give you some information so feel free to message me! All the best in your travels.

So I'm going from Austin, TX, where the summer highs go over 100 degrees F and winters rarely dip below freezing, to a place where it snows for about a fourth of the year. I own one coat and one hoodie.

HOOOO BOY.

Hey there, you're practically my neighbour so feel free to ask me any questions you may have! Though I think some of my other friends may have already offered. I'm good friends with your pred and will be going on my 5th year so there's not too much about this area I can't tell you. Hope you have a safe trip here! Cheers

Hey everyone! Congrats on the placements!

I'm placed in Kyoto-shi! My second choice (after Tokyo). Looking forward to exploring and experiencing an entirely different world from the one I'm used to! :)

Anybody else on this forum who's close by?
