It was like that here up north today: sunny! rainy! windy! sunny and rainy! Had a real bad morning with the "I'm so broke and can't take another year out of my life without any career prospects" sweats, and a better evening - got a phone interview with Interac.

Decided that I really can't be sitting around waiting for JET, even though it's what I really really want. But, maybe I'll sort out an Interac offer and then JET will phone me! What a wonderful dilemma to be in.

OR Interac could reject me and I'll need a whole week of comfort food to soothe my soul!

Still, ACRO request has been sent off and doctor's appointment is tomorrow, so I'll get everything sent off soon and hopefully they'll see how keen I am and that'll stand me in good stead. Ughhh the stress!

I'm so envious of the Irish JETs who have started to hear about upgrades..! I guess we'll know from next weak-ish? I'm yet to hear back from the Police and haven't been able to start my medical process as I've been really ill so I'm worrying! Ironically had to have a chest x-ray at A&E anyway but I don't have a copy of the results and I don't know if my GP does...really hope they can find them so I can save some money! Been a nightmare. Hope everyone else is faring ok!

According to UK JET Desk guy we won't hear anything until after the deadline for replies, so we should start hearing Thurs the 3rd of May I think.

My phone is going into my pocket on vibrate all day at work. Entire family and all friends are on "do not call" orders, hah! Best of luck to us all.

It's all about reviving this thread! Although now every time I see a new post my heart is going to skip a beat...
I feel really excited but nervous that the Irish are being upgraded, but mostly feel excited for those who can now plan their near future.
As our reply form deadline is Wed 2nd May, I'm guessing upgrades may begin from after then?? How many people will *really* reject the offer or miss the deadline?
Look at me, I'm at the point where I'm thinking about how people could possibly NOT accept the job (I'm going mad lol  )

@emmak09 That x-ray has got to be SOMEwhere! Hope you find it, and feel better soon!

For whoever is monitoring/listing how how many UK Alternates there are, my partner is one too but he hasn't signed up for this forum yet :) if you want to add him to the list you can call him 'neko'. We applied together and stated that we wished to be placed together etc and i was shortlisted but he was alternate listed. It will be interesting to see how they deal with us as a couple, or perhaps they won't, and we will be treated as separates form this moment on. Good luck to everybody anyway, and i look forward to seeing everyone's post here about whether luck has come their way! :) fingers crossed x

Hey japanagram, I am in the exact same position as your partner, with my husband being shortlisted. I have to say, since our results we've very much been treated as separate, and repeatedly reminded that I may not be joining him on the JET programme. I think only until I (and your partner) are upgraded we will not be treated as a couple. If we are upgraded before they decide on placements then we will be treated as a couple, ie. they will try their hardest to place us together. But if I'm upgraded after the placement information has been decided, it will be very unlikely we'll be together.
What a dilemma hey! So here is hoping that your partner (and I) are upgraded before placement decisions. I don't feel nervous at all...

Well, tomorrow is our reply deadline so I guess upgrades could start from Thursday onward (most likely Monday but one can hope).

:o

I've done quite well in staying away from the forum, it's made things a lot easier.

Hi all,

I just got an email from JET saying i've been disqualified for not meeting the alternate reply form deadline. But I sent it off with all the required photocopies over a week ago in Royal Mail 1st class to the address given so it should have been delivered.

Is there any information or advice anyone has for what i should do? I tried calling but it was after 5pm so no-one was at JET desk.

Thanks, and good look to all for getting upgraded!

Ring up tomorrow and ask.

If you have proof of your postage that will really help your case here. Next time send by registered mail (cost me five bleeding quid) but at least you can guarantee it gets there. Otherwise, they can be quite strict so I'm not sure what you would be able to do. I really hope that they give a bit of leeway to you for this.

Thanks japanagram! I really hope your hubby is upgraded also 8) Yes if I'm not upgraded I will be living on a spouse visa, but I still hope to be a JET as I've wanted to be on the programme for what feels like forever...

@Bazzle260 I'm SO sorry to hear this has happened!! What a serious bummer. I emailed them to ask if they received mine and they replied back immediately. I have to say, the Jet UK desk have been really very helpful and understanding in the past few weeks with questions I've had, they even phoned me to discuss my options. Phone them first thing perhaps and see what they say??? You never know, their compassion may still be active after the deadline... Good luck! Really hope they can help you.

It's the day after the deadline!

Will today bring news of glad tidings to the waiting and wondering masses? :?:

We shall see. Sadly I now have to go to work but I'll be sneeking glances at my phone every chance I get! 8)
