UK Shortlisters - Paperwork

I think that the confusion lies in the fact that all of the forms are dealing with 'subject access', just on different levels.

@SakuraHoshi - current JETs could definitely help, better still, a UK co-ordinator... Unless the forms have changed/been updated since last year ...in which case ARGH! I read a bit about the confusion over fees the Americans were having with regards to their forms. Hectic times.

I can't open it at the moment...but is it not a local form for norfolk only?

Nope, no mention of a local authority. Goes through ACRO, not a constabulary.

dkyy wrote:So confused now... The Met Police seem to have separate forms for the Subject Access Request and PNC check (http://www.met.police.uk/information/request_forms.htm) so I guess each police force is different. Looking at both, it seems like the PNC one seems more like what they want since it's a criminal check. For the Subject Access form, I don't know if it's necessary to fill in the specific information request part. Since I've never had any encounters with the police, I wouldn't have anything to put anyway. I don't know if they'll process it without that part though...

I think I might just send off for both the Subject Access Request and the Police National Computer check since they can both take up to 40 days. It's only 10 quid each.

The 'Subject Access Request' only deals with what the Met database have on you. JET seem to want the National check. If there hasn't been a forum consensus as to the correct form on Monday, I'm inclined to follow your lead and send both.

That is the ACRO SAR 1 form I was talking about earlier. Norfolk must split the forms dealing with national and regional enquiries, like the Met, instead of amalgamating like the others.

Yeah, I mean it's still a Subject Access Request form, so it should be the one. It says they check the PNC database, and it even mentions that you might need it for a Visa.

I imagine JET knows what form they want. It'll be one of the SAR forms, it just depends what. I wouldn't be surprised if these are all pretty much the same forms, it's just the local constabulary ones also hand over their local records on you, as well as the PNC stuff.

Sadly I think everyone's forces are pretty different on this one! My local force (at my mother's permanent address, not my university one) only really has one form for the issue:

https://www.northants.police.uk/default ... formid=164

That's the online application (which doesn't seem to work), but the paper one is identical that I got from the station. It has a check box for getting information from the national computer, so it seems to do the job for me!

Although I have no idea why it asks for my height... I mean really?? How does that help them work out its me?

Oh, I've just realised that on the Met PNC check form, it says that it's a maximum £10 fee for both the national and regional check. That's probably why most forces have one form for both. I've filled out the PNC one for now and will probably phone up on Monday to check before I send it.

I have phoned UK JET Desk Man, and he confirmed that it is the SUBJECT ACCESS REQUEST FORM that you need.

this http://www.strathclyde.police.uk/index. ... 7&docID=-1 - at least for me (in west scotland)

if you go to your local police constabulary's website, it will be under "freedom of information" or "data protection"

Ok so it looks like

http://www.cleveland.police.uk/advice-i ... ccess.aspx

Since the form states:

Application for “Prosecution/Conviction History” from the Police National Computer* Details of Prosecutions, Convictions and Cautions
* If you require access to information other than Prosecutions, Convictions & Cautions, contact the Data Control Unit.

Guess I'll fill out this form then.

interesting that you have a choice of two there, hmm might be worth phoning the JET Desk, i think its the PNC one they want, as far as im aware local street warnings will be kept on a local register for a 'determined period of time which is considered appropriate', but wont go on the PNC. If it goes on the PNC it stays there forever. Yeh, id check with the desk see what they say, i have a feeling its the PNC one they want.

The other form on the list is basically if you're committed a crime in a region and need the details on what they've recorded at that constabulary, I think.

I'll ring the desk tomorrow morning before I send this form off.

I think I'm just going to send off the one I got from my local station. The orange form says go to your station, get a subject access request form. I have done that. They can't fault me for doing what they said.
