Hey Everyone,

So I also got one of these emails telling me my TB vaccination isn't enough :/ I went to see my doctor this morning and she has told me to go get a skin test at a travel clinic. Is that going to work, because people have mentioned that the skin test is made difficult in some way if you've already had the jab???? I'm confused...if anyone could explain this in a way my tiny brain can understand I would be eternally grateful! I'm just concerned that if my results mean that I'll need an xray for some reason that I'll run out of time D:

Stupid deadlines...this process is so stressful :/ Hope everyone is doing okay ^_^ we're nearly there!!

I believe there's a 50% chance that the mantoux (skin) test will come back positive if you've had the BCG, but that wasn't an issue for me. You get the results 2 days after having it, so you'll still have time to get an Xray if needed.

Thanks.
Would an Xray by itself be okay or do we need to do a Mantoux test before this? Might make more sense to just go for the Xray and skip the Mantoux test if it's unlikely to give me the result JET needs. But obviously only if that would be accepted!!

Basically, either a Mantoux test has to come back negative, or you have to have an xray.

Just get the xray, it's safer.

But the Mantoux test is cheaper! I'd risk it for a biscuit.

Ah I wish i'd just got the xray and didnt have a mantoux.

I've had a bcg and the mantoux came up positive so had to shell out for both anyway. 50% chance, but I could have saved myself £40!

I doubt I'll be risking it, I'll go for the X-ray
I don't mind paying more if it's just for the X-ray but can't afford both right now, sounds safer to skip the Mantoux, thank you

Sorry you had to pay for both, this process seems so endless!

My doctor's messed me around a lot so I am having my X Ray done tomorrow and then the follow up appointment and picking up my forms on June 8th when my GP returns from holiday...such a pain!

I think in most people's cases, like mine, we submitted all the paperwork and then got a response from JET asking for further results/ details. I submitted my health form and reply a few days after I was shortlisted

I wasn't aware that having the TB vaccination wouldn't be enough proof until I got their email asking me to get a Mantoux or Xray

I'm still waiting for my X ray results to come through. I had the X ray last Thursday and they said they'd be posted sraight out in recorded delivery. Hope everything's ok. :? I will chase them tomorrow.

So has none of you received placement results yet? Seems like every other country has gone them. They save the best for last as usual

Nope no placements yet :( I'm so anxious about getting a placement I'm not happy with. I'm an eternal pessimist so I automatically assume that something is gonna go wrong for me somewhere. Anyways, it wouldn't surprise me if the UK lot are amongst the last to receive placement information. I seem to recall us being one of the last for the interview results. But it's not really surprising, think about how many candidates the embassy in London has to sort placements out for, whereas in other bigger countries there are more embassies/consulates who would share the work. I can imagine the staff in London are all juggling hundreds of candidates at once.

I went for the x-ray straight away. I got the last of my documentation delivered on the 21st. Such a relief.

From what I've read, I've been pretty lucky getting my paperwork done without much hassle. Hope everyone gets their stuff in on time. :)
