Hello!! congrats to fellow shortlisters and ganbatte~~ to alternates and unsucessfuls!

Already filling out my forms - with regards to the police reply, the form says

"Please note that Disclosure Scotland documents and basic CRB checks will not be accepted as they do not list all information contained on the police national computer.

So what is it exactly we need? o_O

An Enhanced CRB check maybe? They dig deeper than the basic CRBs.

Oh man I'm still only on page four of this paperwork, I'm procrastinating by checking my Facebook "congrats" messages every few minutes.

I was still making my way through the reading when I posted that, I've now filled in the two blue forms and put my name/DOB on the health check form. I'm confused about how we're supposed to pay the fee though. Is there one? The Americans are sending cheques for $85 with their paperwork, and our paperwork does state we are liable for cancellation fees but doesn't seem to ask for any payment. Is this right then>

from what i remember about the application self-assessment report, with doctors note accompanied, that you went it gave your doc the papers they needed, they filled them out nd youd pick them up a few days later and pay whatever the fee is at the reception desk, at least thats what i did and what i reckon happens in most of scotland, i dont know about any regional variations in the NHS, but i think its fairly standardised.

In regards to fees we may have to pay for these forms, I've rang around today to get an idea:

The 'Subject Access' form from your local police station should cost around £10, and can be done by post or online (check your local station's website). I'm doing it by post (sending a cheque) as Northamptonshire's submission website isn't working for me!

The medical assessment form should be mostly free, apart from your chest X-ray which may need to be done privately. My local medical centre suggested it would cost around £90, which is quite high. However, the nice chap at the JET desk suggested the clinic may be able to cover some of your costs if you ask them, and £30-40 is probably more accurate.

Hope this may help!

Thanks, I was confused about what the $85 was for on the American application but if it was medical then that makes sense. God bless the NHS.

I am assuming students will be able to claim this £30-40 back on the NHS with the usual form, people might want to remember to get a copy of this form when they have the X-ray done.

I don't actually have the forms in my possession yet (they're being Special Deliveried to me) so what does the medical stuff entail?

We need a chest X-ray? I have no idea where to get that done!

Do we need to include pictures of the Xray? Or is it more a "The Doctor needs to have seen an Xray and confirmed that you don't have TB?".

Because when I had to do that for my year abroad, my doctor just said "Pfft, you don't need an Xray, you don't have TB" and just signed it.

its implied from the form that you require one, or at least a doctor to say that you have had one and its fine, im pretty sure they can guage if you'll need one or not though. hasn't everyone born and grown up in the UK got a TB shot at some stage anyway?

Yeah, we have one in Year 9. My Doc is pretty cool, so hopefully she'll let me off again.
