Hi guys! I'm really late to the party, apparently. I'm so excited to meet you guys! Anyone currently residing in the Lehigh Valley?

Hahahaa... Yes. You will.

I have a feeling I'll miss it most: I work at one! I've been SO spoiled since I started working at my local one (in MA) last September, learning more about all the good food.....I keep joking that they need to open one up in Japan. Well, maybe not quite joking. I'll definitely miss all of the dairy alternatives, though. What am I going to do without almond milk?!

there are tons of soymilk variations/options. i feel like the soy milk options are pretty much on par with the cow-milk options! if you live in/near a city it's possible you could find some store that might have a bit more options, but so far i haven't seen any almond milk that i can remember (and i live in a city).

Haha can't have soy either (unless it's fermented, since that process kills the stuff that affects me)...so almond and coconut milk are basically all I can do. I was able to use a can of coconut milk to make pancakes for my host family last year, but the consistency was off, lol.

A friend was telling me the same. I guess I'll start getting creative with my food in Japan. 8)

Hey just wanted to say welcome and congrats to the new NYC JETs!! I'm late on this haha because I haven't been on the forum in ages, but seriously NYC is the greatest consulate ever. Take advantage of all their get togethers and fun outings. I'm still super close to the people I made friends with through the seminar and such.

And... if anyone ends up getting Fukui when you all get placements, let me know! :D

So has anyone asked the consulate to confirm they received their paperwork all right? I did get a confirmation from the post office but I can't help worrying that it's lost somewhere!

I e-mailed the coordinator and she very kindly gave me a swift response assuring me that, yes, she did have all of my materials.

Hi all!
Wish I could come to the meet-up but I'm heading out that weekend for my cousin's graduation. Have fun!

I dropped off my reply packet in person (happened to be in the area) so I know she got mine. She even went through it with me! I'm sure you can send an email to confirm with her though, like tashikanakoto. ^^

I want to ask them if the received my reply packet too. Did you email the main NY JET office (jet@ny.mofa.go.jp)? Or did you send your request to a different address?

I emailed that address, too, to double check that my forms were received, and Noriko said that we are going to get another email from them next week with pre-departure details and whatnot....is it weird that I'm so excited to get that email?? LOL so, next week we will find out more info. I can't wait! Knowing that all my forms are in and everything makes it so REAL! Now we just need placements and a little more patience! ;)
