@Tessay aaaw thank you for saying that :) it's so nice to have some current ALT presence on the SA thread. I can't help but feel that we're in the minority but then again we only have three cities partaking.

M-Chan so sorry you didn't make it this year but I'm glad to hear you'll be trying again for next year all the best!

@efred I don't think I want to know my position on the list it would just make me panic which is unnecessary and won't do any of us any good. What will be will be. And as the miami coordinator said your position of the list doesn't necessarily determine how soon you'll be upgraded.

Yup. Ryan Keet said that it doesn't matter WHERE you are on the list because they often choose people according to what the prefecture/school needs. So whether you're on the top or bottom everyone has a fair chance.

It's just that after all this uncertainty... there's MORE uncertainty. It's a bit torturous for me. Is all.

@eFred I know how you feel it's torture indeed. And you know how stressed I've been with my lacking back-up plan so I've just reached rock bottom so this news came as a reason to have hope so I'm holding on to it like crazy 'cause without it I think I'd go insane right now. Unemployment and job hunting is a B-word! Sending you hugs and every other alternate hugs.

Hi guys! Went for my x-rays today. Feeling on the ball! 8) Although I'm missing work. Oops. Oh well. Really worried about the other admin-y things though. But, that aside~~

I have high hopes for those on the alternate list. Last year, I knew 3 people who were alternates, and they were all short listed within 2 weeks. The reply form is due the 27th, so I'm sure there'll be lots of shifts then. Crossing my fingers for everyone!!

Hi @Shandi :) yes you're on the ball! But that's how it should be. I'm hoping to have my X-rays done on Monday. Thankfully I've already submitted my PCC. Are you from Cape Town? Where and what did you study?

It would be nice to have a bit of an intro from the newcomers...

Eisan...sorry to hear that you didn't make it GJD, I was hoping that you'll be accepted. Glad to see that you still have your spirit up high to try again next year. Best of luck for 2013.

@Yumz27: thanks for wishing me a speedy recovery, I'm getting better, I was wrestling with fever since the Easter holidays. Anyway, that's not important now
Ur right, the early departure thingi was not gonna work well for me bt at this moment, I'm ready for any action.

Once again, good luck to all the Alternates. As to the rejected, I'm glad that most of you guys are willing to it again for 2013. On that note, good luck as well.

@Yumz27 Oops! lol. I'm notorious for not putting things (including myself  ) in context!
My posts are few, but I've been stalking this forum since some people I know applied in 2011 - so I just jumped in! Ever the mysterious forum-ninja~
<clean slate>
Hi! I'm Shandi!
I do know what a Shandy is, but it was the only profile name I could think of that I knew I wouldn't completely forget after a week (it resembles my real nickname). I'm 23 years old, and I'm from the beautiful city of Cape Town. I studied English Literature and Linguistics at the Univeristy of Cape Town, and I've been studying Japanese at the Cape Town Nihongo Kai school for about 2 years. (よろしく!)
I'm an excessive user of exclamation marks :!: :!: and smileys  , and generally spend half my time removing as many of them as possible from my posts before I submit them online - to avoid looking absolutely nutz :D

I think that covers the essentials. Looking forward to foruming with everyone!

@Shandi seems we have a bit in common :) I'm 23 too and majored in English at UCT too also Media and Radio Production. Perhaps we were even in some of the dame classes...it's a small world! It's lovely to "meet" you.

Are most of the CT applicants UCT students? It certainly seems that way.

@Yumz: I had a bit of a laugh at this: "Cheese of the day: Was Beyonce's "Let me Upgrade you" written for JET Alternates?!" Good one.

@eFred LOL thank you for appreciating that silly lil joke! Most of the CT applicants are probably from UCT although at the interview I heard of quite a few UWC applicants. One of them came to drop out and I met another girl from there too. She didn't know about the forums and she still hasn't joined but I wonder what's her status...

Hey Tessay

Thanks so much for the encouragement :D . It is always great to hear from ALTs already over in Japan. Although I am still really hoping that I get into the JET programme, it is good to know that there are so many options out there.
