My name is Emily and I've applied from Toronto (so far I think I've seen one other person mentioned Toronto in this thread..Oh so lonely?). I figured I'd finally join and speak since I've just been lurking to see if anyone has gotten an interview email yet. Like everyone else here, I've been sitting nervously since yesterday.
I've always been interested in Japanese culture and language since I was a little girl (Come on, Pokemon was the definition of childhood). Despite my sister hoping it'd be a phase I would grow out of it did not happan (haha!). I'm currently taking 3rd year Japanese at McMaster and loving it. Japanese has always been my favourite course and I was glad I finally got a chance to formally learn the language.
Other than that, I love video games (console and PC) and cosplay (Any other cosplayers here?).
Good luck everyone and I hope we'll hear back soon!!!

In context of the conversation earlier in the thread that's what I got from it, not that they would notify applicant who didn't make it to the interview stage as well. It seems like most people are saying you will get an e-mail only if you've made it. I really hope they just mass-send an e-mail saying "you didn't get selected, thanks for applying" (that would be awesome for my sanity).
With that said, I think it is weird that no one has posted about being selected yet. Someone from SOME province has to have heard something. OR maybe we are the only cool ones who use this forum![]()

Let's get a little conversation going about something other than waiting lol
Howcome each of you want to go to Japan?
Hey, Emidono I'm from Hamilton! I go to McMaster, I assume you're at UoT? Don't worry you're definitely not alone when it comes to Toronto. Good luck everyone!

I've been compulsively checking my email... Hopefully we'll all hear from them soon!

Heya Victoria friend! I finished my degree in English last year at Uvic! I'm relieved to hear that us West coasters haven't heard anything. Here's to another sleepless night!
I love reading everyones motivations for going! As for why I want to go to Japan, I was an exchange student in Gifu-shi in high school, which naturally has propelled my hope to return as an English teacher. I too initially fostered my interest in Japan through Sailormoon & Escaflowne, as well as other anime and manga. While in Japan I really enjoyed learning the language, and found the cultural differences to be fascinating. I can not wait to go back and experience life on the other side (as a teacher, rather than student). Fingers crossed!
