Minor problems but problems all the same :)

I have my finals in less than a week. I am only concentrating on one thing and it isn't revision.... :P

I know! I have so much to do, and I just keep looking up stuff about Japan!
Must remember that I do actually need to graduate in order to be able to go to Japan!

suica wrote:Question for the UK JETs, when you had your interview did you see/meet any other applicants? I had mine in London and was never even in the same room as another applicant. The ex-JET even said to me that if I saw anyone else around the embassy that I was not permitted to talk to them or I would be disqualified. Kind of a strong contrast to what I was expecting - people all milling about in a room meeting each other before their interviews.

I was interviewed on the 1st Feb, I met one other girl who was being interviewed at the same time, I think she said she was studying at Cambridge? We were able to have a chat before being taken in to start the test and watch the video etc. The former JET who spoke with us was really nice- i think it was Peng? i did wonder if she was assessing us actually Lol, but she was very easy to talk to and we just asked questions and kept up conversation :) Interview was terrifying though, i was so nervous!

Woah, much seems to have happened since I last checked in. So to keep things simple congrats to the shortlisters, commiserations for the rejectees, and hang in there to the alternates.

I'm so excited, I can't believe i'll be going off to live in Japan in just a few months! It's a dream come true.

Congratulations to other shortlisters! And, if they want it enough, i'm certain the others will find their path to Japan regardless of this outcome.

Really surprised they picked me, because I don't have any Japanese knowledge or any teaching qualifications.
I'm definitely hoping to be placed in the Kansai area; Shiga was my first preference.
I recently stayed there for 1 month with my best friends.
I wonder what the chances are of being placed in Shiga?

Like most others though, surely i'll be happy anywhere in Japan!
Really excited/anxious about finally learning Japanese!
Just can't wait to start on this journey.

Yeah, I'm pretty excited too, I just keep having premonitions about not graduating or something!

Hi, I'm a British High School JET based in Otsu in southern Shiga. Although I can't really enlighten you on the likelihood of you receiving your placement request, I can tell you that the prefecture, in general, does not take a huge amount of British JETs because of its sister state links to Michigan in the USA. Last year, out of all the new British JETs, I was the only one to be placed in Shiga prefecture. However, there are some of us here, and fingers crossed you'll get your placement, as it's a great area to live in. If you have any questions about the prefecture or what it's like being a JET here, please send me a private message.

Hey All :)

I'm London based.

Kind of feeling weird about the whole situation really. I waited so long for results and sort of told myself that I wouldn't get in even though i'd gotten further than last year, and then wasn't all too happy with my interview so had resigned to failure. you can imagine my joy at being short listed, and now i'm periodically fueled with anxiousness and over thinking!

Decided that i'm just going to take things as they come now and enjoy time at home till I leave. Although now i'm seething at the cost of my medical! Feel like my money is draining away before im even able to put any away! Anyone else?

Hey, where abouts in London are you from? I'm just down the road in Basingstoke :) I know what you mean, I was so sure that my interview was a fail! I'd been considering going back to uni as jobs are so scarce at the minute- still cant believe I've been shortlisted, its all a bit weird as I know I need to get things sorted and I'm really not sure what I should be doing! But reading the advice on these forums about what to take and what to expect really helps.

I just had my x-ray this morning; cost me £90 which I'm not too unhappy about as I've heard people say its cost them over £100... Medical was £60 though and I have to go back :( Really must start saving up some more money!

^ Hey Lauren, I am from Basingstoke originally and my parents still live there, but I am up in London...odd to see another one here!

Maybe if I meet you at orientation we can discuss the finer points of our lovely hometown!
