Hello Japancolors,
yes you can do it online, I think it's something called the 'APPLES' thing. I takes about just 1 week for the new one to be ready!

Thanks shortsmallsweet!

rinforest wrote:Just got off the phone with Tina. Anyone else who might need to renew their passports, please try to do it by today so that you can (hopefully) get it before the deadline for the reply. Else you will have to submit the alterations to reply form when you get the new one (and cause inconvenience, was what I gathered :P)

Haha, that must be after my phone call with Tina. She called me at about 1030am just now. She said most likely I will be able to collect my passport and submit the reply form by hand on the deadline itself. She also said if there are any problems submitting the form on time, one can contact her for help.

Hopefully, I can really get my passport next Friday.

Japancolors, you may want to check if it's ok that your COC and COH has your old passport number. The COC lady told me to send them my new passport number when I get it or else it will list the old number and the embassy may not accept it.

So much running around...(-_-;)

Oh no! Does this mean I need to re-apply for another CoC?

Just received my forms today. When applying for COC, does the documentary proof that COC is needed refer to the offical letter addressed to me?

Actually, I used the 'instructions to all applicants' when I applied for my CoC, and it was fine too. FYI. :)

Luckily for me, Tina said since my CoC and CoH are with Tokyo now, I need not repeat the process again after I have changed my passport. Phew!

So you had applied for both during application? My COH will have my IC number. Hope that doesn't make a difference :?

Since I'm still updating the list...kurikuri & egrzx925, I assume both of you are shortlists? Any other lurkers around?

Yea, because I opted for the April intake. So they asked me to furnish both the CoC and CoH earlier on.

Just wanted to cheer on the Alternates. I was an alternate and am now on the programme. The wait is indeed daunting and the best out of the situation is to hear something in early May and in time to depart with the rest. But the fact of life is that there will be some of you out there who might have to wait out longer than that, so hang in there. A word of advice though, to perhaps set yourself a deadline. After which if you do not hear from the embassy, to activate your contingency plan. Some call it a miracle, some call it conincidence, I got the call on the morning of the exact date which I set myself. :D

Looking forward to hear some of you guys upgraded.

Thanks lepton! Just wanna ask: What was the deadline you set for yourself?

Hi everyone,

Let me share an alternative to Raffles Medical for your CoH:

I asked my neighbourhood clinc to do the CoH for me ($10-$15 for general health screening). For the X-ray, he gave me a form to bring to the nearest polyclinic (which was literally 5 mins from the clinic), and I didn't have to join the ridiculously long queue we all know exists at polyclinics. All I had to do was bring it to the radiology department and they did it for me in a few minutes. The X-ray can be collected within an hour ($15-$17). Then, I brought the X-ray back to my doctor for his assessment.

I didn't even do everything on the same day. I visited the clinic at night (less crowded), went to the polyclinic super early the next day (no crowd at radiology dept), collected the X-ray the following day (no wait required), and visited the clinic at night again. Some may find this troublesome, but it worked for me simply because I didn't have to consume any leave to do it and it was super convenient cos both places are very near my house.

As for the CoC, same advice as everyone else so far. Go early at 8+. I was in and out in less than 5 mins both times I was there. No queue at all.

May I ask how long did it take between your application and collection?

COC and COH are due only at the end of May but everyone seems to have already gotten their forms ready. and I have yet to fill out my reply form. oh no.

lol i think it's just our Singaporean trait coming into play?

did my checkup at Raffles Hospital, took about 2 hours and $50. on the bright side, it turned out that my doctor was from my dance class years ago, so it was nice to be able to tell one more person "yes, I'm going to Japan to be an English teacher." :D
