There's really nothing useful in this thread to shift through other than nonsense conversation. That, and, I really do not feel like making another list.

It's easy to read if you just click "first unread post" each time you visit. It's what I do. :) The page count kind of becomes a non-issue.

Sadly, I am fairly certain no one gets placed in Tokyo (city, anyway). The people who do get placed in Tokyo prefecture end up being on the outlying islands.

Let's hope for tomorrow. That seems to be the universal date for all the consulates to send confirmations out.

Anyone feeling confident yet or are a lot of you still nervous?

I'm feeling pretty confident! I went out and bought me a sharp new suit today and had it fitted. Been brushing up on my Japanese and scouring the web for interview tips and questions. I think the interview will go well!

The JET apartments here in Sapporo do all have heaters, but it's a bit expensive to keep the heat blasting, so some do opt for space heaters or a kotatsu instead. I have heard the schools' heating in Sapporo varies from school to school.

When I was walking around the snow festival on Monday, I did think was a bit warm and noticed a lot of the sculptures dripping. Did not hear about the injured woman. Though, I don't really have a good opportunity to follow the news here.

I don't know anything about the Sapporo JETs as they're pretty segregated from the rest of Hokkaido ALTs. Sounds nice, though, lol. One of my schools' foundations was damaged on 3/11 so they built a new one that we'll start using in April...there are rumors it has central heating. Here's hoping...

I read a different article than the one above that about 7 or so sculptures had to be destroyed because they were unstable to the point of being dangerous. Since Weds the temps have dropped and it's been snowing (here at least, about 35 min outside of Sapps) nonstop for two days now.

I'm going this weekend...hopefully none of the other sculptures come crashing down before I can see them, lol.

Thanks for the link! I took a picture of that sculpture Monday afternoon and it looked in better shape than the other ice/snow sculptures around, surprised that was the one that injured someone. I'm going back tonight to see how they look with lights in the darkness instead of during the bright day, wonder which are still surviving.

I hope you get that central heating! It's so cold here, I can't imagine what'd it'd be like to work somewhere without central heating. Most of my time here in my fiance's apartment I've been huddled under the kotatsu, since he doesn't to turn on the heat...

A new thread is started every year, so this thread will die mid summer anyway. :) I think it's kinda nice to keep everything in one place here- sort of like a time capsule! :D

It would also be a great for the 2013 aspiring JETs to read back on our pain and feel some comfort that, hey, they had to go through this too.
