Reference Letters...

Postby ChickyHearn » Fri May 18, 2012 6:15 am

I was reading over the required materials for last year and saw that the Reference Letters needed to be printed on each person's office letterhead...what if their organization does not have official office letterhead with logos, information, etc. on it? Can I no longer use those people as references?

You can find some possible answers here:

search.php?keywords=letterhead

or I answered someone once about that here:

As long as withen the reference, the referee states that it is against company policy to use headed paper, you will be fine - one my references was not on headed paper.

Have them provide a business card and mention why there is no letterhead. If it is because they are not allowed to give you a reference on business official paper, then have them note that reason and make sure they provide a way to contact them if the processors have any questions or concerns.

I don't think it's a problem. One of my references was from a university lecturer, so no worries there, but the other was from an old teacher and she just wrote it like a regular letter.
