Yeah my x-ray was £77 and the doctor wants to charge me like £120 for the form?!! CRAZY. That's like almost £200... I'm going to play the poor student card when I go to pick it up, see if I can get it any cheaper =S

Sounds like I'm pretty lucky with the medical just now! My health centre is a tiny one and my doctor has known me all my life so he says he won't charge me, the x ray at my nearest hospital was starting to get complicated (they couldn't understand why I needed a chest x ray no matter how much I tried to explain it to them) but eventually I got it done and I'm hoping to send off that and my police reply in the next few days. Then on to finals and hoping I pass them all so that I don't mess up this chance!

Ooo all the Edinburgh folks are appearing, it's nice to hear from y'all Well, I've just got back from the hospital now after having my Tb test. I've got to go back on Friday for the result. The nurse injected a clear liquid under my skin and now it looks like a small mosquito bite. Hoping for a negative so I can send the medical form off faster

Just got my police reply back - got the exact same letter back as when i applied for a basic disclosure. if this sufficient? I applied through strathclyde for a subject access request form and checked both boxes for local and PNC information. still unsure as to whether this is the right thing though.

Woah that was fast. When did you apply for it? I thought it'd take at least a month. I'm sure if it's an official headed letter from them then it will be good enough. If you're not sure, just call the nice man at the JET desk.

I still haven't had any reply/confirmation that ACRO have received my documents... It's starting to make me quite anxious now, as the post office states that the letter has been delivered... How quickly did everyone receive their confirmation (if at all)? I'm very wary that it may take a long time to process, so I don't know whether to send off another form or to ring them and query it. Thoughts?

i didnt do it through ACRO, did it through local constabularly. i sent off the request on friday 13th, the day i got my shortlist letter

I got a confirmation email the morning after I sent mine - and I think I was one of the first (on here anyway) to send one out. Maybe the Monday after results? Email was there when I woke up on Tuesday morning. But, someone did say they got an email or something warning them that ACRO are really busy, so I guess the responses are going to get cumulatively longer to happen. No harm in ringing to find out though!

Just had my chest X-ray (walked into a clinic, they had my GP fax over a referral on the spot), cost me £118.

I had better get upgraded.

I got the same one from Central Scotland Police got mine back withing 4 days so was pretty quick! One more thing to tick off the to do list

Just got my chest x-ray results and surprise surprise, I'm healthy.

Just got to get my doctor to sign off the form now, and then I'm just waiting for my criminal check to be returned.

I had my doctors appointment today.

I presented the form, and at first he said 'no way am I filling that in'. I ended up turning on the waterworks and begging, and he relented and filled in the top section. He has referred the rest to another doc, who I will see at some point in the next few weeks and he will refer me for an X ray. But it will be private and the best quote I've had so far is 140 quid.

He made me feel quite guilty by pointing out the number of genuinly ill patients waiting to be seen and here I was taking up his time as a healthy young girl. He concluded by saying that it was 'extremely unfair' and 'extremely unethical' that the Japanese goverment were expecting their new employees to get the NHS to pay for something that is very clearly a private occupational health assessment.

I couldn't agree more with him. Sorry for the negativity but this whole JET recruitment experience has left me with a rather bad taste in my mouth. The amount of hoops we're having to jump through, and I'm not even guaranteed a place!

Of course, all wll be forgiven if I get upgraded!

That's why you pay your GP to do it. It cost me £20. Your guy sounds like a dork
