JET Applicants and Families

I hope this isn't a redundant topic, but I have a question about the program and families.

My husband and I have been talking about applying for the JET for some time. We would both like to apply. We also just found out we're expecting, and will be due in January 2013.

My questions are:

What is the likelihood that my husband and I could/would be placed in the same place if we were both accepted;

Is there a minimum age that the child would have to be for one or both of us to be accepted;

If only one of us is accepted, is the salary enough to support a family of three (I guess that depends on where you're placed?);

And any other insights you may have to offer, be it from your own personal experience, or someone you know.

Hi! I can't speak to all your concerns. But I do know that I have seen people with children come here with only one person on JET. It's a tight budget, but definitely something that seems doable with a family. I have a friend who has a job here who gets paid less than JET salary, and is supporting his wife and child. Also, if you both apply I know the chances of you both getting to be placed in the same place is not very likely. However, you do have a child on the way now, so this could change things? I was married when we both applied three years ago, and the people at the embassy told me it was highly unlikely, even if I had a baby before then. This is all I know! Wish I could help you more!
