I still have not received mine yet. When it is sent will it be sent to my home or my school? I remember when filling out the forms at the airport that I didn't have my exact address yet. If for some reason I do not receive my card, who should I contact? My current supervisor does not know who to contact regarding the card. If any of you have any information regarding this please let me know thanks.

As I understand it, once you've registered your moving in with your local city or town, the information is sent to the immigration authorities who will issue and mail your zairyu card to your home address, which could take up to 10 days. So depending on how long it has taken you to get your address settled, that will add time to the process accordingly, and if you're not home when they initially deliver it, they'll leave a slip for you to call and schedule a re-delivery. Or have you already been registered with your town or city hall for a couple weeks already?

I have also been registered since the beginning of Aug.... starting to get worried / isolated since I can only communicate with anyone at work :(

Also had the realization that I can`t send money back home at the post office without the card. If it doesn`t get here soon I am going to be very upset as bills become overdue and rack up charges...

Don't know if this helps or not, but it sounds like most people who registered on or around August 1 haven't gotten or only just received their cards. I know of 2 people who got theirs within the 10 days they were told; I registered on August 1 the minute we got to my city and didn't receive my card until August 20, and most of the other people in my prefecture are still waiting. So it sounds like the 10 days thing is being REALLY generous and most of the cards are getting sent out in 3-4 weeks.

I'm not sure if I should feel better that I'm not the only one still waiting, or worse because there is no good indication that it will be coming anytime soon.

To top it off, Docomo is the only carrier that has reception at my school - and they appear to be the strictest about the zairyu card.

At least my loan providers aren't firewalled at work, though, so I can continue to pay student loans with the little bit left in my account back home...

Apparently that rumor was false. I signed up with Docomo just fine.

It still depends on the staff members you talk to though. Even if it's possible, you will often find staff who don't really know and so err on the side of caution. It can be very hard to convince them otherwise.

So I've heard. Most people should be fine though if they ask the salesperson to pull up the Documents Verifying Identification page (available in Japanese and English) where Section 6 clearly dictates that a Health Insurance Card and one of the following is sufficient: Utility Receipt, Certificate of Residence (Juminhyo), Credit Card, Student ID, or an Alien Registration Certificate.

My clerk brought this list up as soon as we sat down, which I imagine is standard protocol. So once you get that Health Insurance Card, you should be able to manage it with a little perserverance.

Just got my card yesterday, sounds like the local government office was slacking with the paper work though because me and a group B got their cards at the same time which obviously should not have been the case.
