The 2012 Conference for Returning JETs (CRJ) will be held at the Tokyo Bay Makuhari Hall, in Chiba Prefecture from 5-7 March, 2012. Through CRJ, CLAIR seeks to provide essential support to JET participants who will be completing their tenure on the Programme and are in the process of preparing for life post-JET.
CLAIR invites working professionals, many of whom are former JET participants themselves, to come and speak at the conference about fields that hold the most interest for returning JET participants. CRJ is unique in that it offers JET participants who are finishing their terms on the Programme a chance to speak first-hand with those professionals and gain from their experience some insight into the world of work beyond JET. There is also a CLAIR/AJET-sponsored information fair with useful resources for JET participants returning home as well as limited (based on a lottery) one-on-one counseling sessions with professionals.
Additionally, CRJ takes a look at some of the intangible aspects of preparing for post-JET life, such as how to say farewell to Japan and ways to address and deal with "reverse culture shock."
Unlike other conferences for JET participants, attendance at CRJ is optional. Thus, travel expenses to and from the conference, as well as accomodation and other fees, and the corresponding arrangements, are the responsibility of the JET participant.
