【Conference for Returning JETs】
The Conference for Returning JETs (CRJ), is held in the Tokyo region in February/March each year. Through CRJ, CLAIR hopes to provide essential support to JET participantss who will be completing their tenure on the programme after at least two years, and are faced with the sometimes daunting and difficult task of returning home.
CRJ is unique in that it offers JET participants who are completing their terms on the programme a chance to speak first-hand with other former JET participants who have now returned to their home countries and re-entered the working world there. CLAIR invites working professionals, many of whom are former JET participants themselves, to come and speak about fields that hold the most interest for returning JET participants. There is also a CLAIR/AJET-sponsored information fair with useful resources for returning JET participants.
Additionally, CRJ takes a look at some of the intangible aspects of preparing for post-JET life, such as how to say farewell to Japan and ways to address and deal with "reverse culture shock".
Unlike other conferences for JET participants, attendance at CRJ is optional. Thus, travel expenses to and from the conference, as well as accomodation and other fees, are bourne by the JET participant.
